Privacy Policy

Matko Setnik ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Closr mobile application ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App.

    Privacy at a Glance: Closr is built with privacy at its core. Journal entries are never shared with your partner. Individual check-in responses remain private — only aggregated summaries are visible. We do not use any third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

Email address — used for authentication and account recovery
Display name — shown to your partner if paired
Authentication method — email/password, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In

1.2 Profile & Relationship Information

During onboarding, you may provide:

Avatar emoji selection
Gender (optional)
Relationship status (e.g., dating, married)
Relationship duration
Living situation
Assessment responses (communication comfort, connection level, etc.) on a 1–5 scale

1.3 Check-In Data

When you complete daily check-ins, we collect:

Mood rating (1–5 scale)
Desire level (1–5 scale)
Energy level
Timestamps

    Privacy Note: Your individual check-in values are never shared directly with your partner. Only aggregated summaries and compatibility scores are visible to paired users.

1.4 Journal Entries

Journal entries include free-form text, mood ratings, and tags you assign. Journal entries are always private and are never shared with your partner or any third party.

1.5 Love Letters

When you compose love letters, we store the content, theme selection, and delivery status. Only the intended recipient can read a sent letter.

1.6 Date Night Plans

Date night information (title, description, category, scheduled date, location, and ratings) is shared between both partners in a couple.

1.7 Activity Data

We track which prompts and exercises you complete, skip, or save, along with time spent on exercises and your ratings. This data is used to personalize your experience and calculate dashboard statistics.

1.8 Custom Content

User-created prompts are stored privately by default. You may choose to share custom prompts with your partner.

1.9 Device Information

Push notification token — to deliver reminders and partner activity notifications
Notification preferences — preferred times, quiet hours, frequency settings

1.10 Subscription Information

Subscription purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. We receive:

Subscription status (active, expired, trial)
Renewal and expiration dates
Platform (iOS or Android)

We do not receive or store your payment card details.

2. How We Use Your Information

Provide and maintain the App's features (check-ins, prompts, exercises, journal, love letters, date nights)
Display aggregated relationship insights and compatibility scores to paired users
Send push notifications (reminders, partner activity alerts)
Manage your subscription status
Improve the App's functionality and user experience
Respond to your inquiries and support requests

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

5. Biometric Data

The App offers an optional App Lock feature using your device's biometric authentication (Face ID or Touch ID). Biometric data is processed entirely on your device by the operating system. We never receive, transmit, or store your biometric data.

6. Data Security

In transit: All data is encrypted using TLS/SSL during transmission.
At rest: Data stored in Firebase is encrypted at rest using Google's default encryption.
Access control: Firestore security rules enforce strict per-user and per-couple access. Users can only read and write their own data. Couple data is accessible only to the two paired partners.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

Your authentication credentials are permanently deleted
Your personal data (profile, check-ins, journal, letters, favorites, custom prompts) is permanently deleted
Your RevenueCat customer record is deactivated
Push notification tokens are discarded

Shared couple data (date nights, shared prompts) may remain accessible to your partner until their account is also deleted.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
Deletion: Request deletion of your data and account
Portability: Request your data in a portable format
Restriction: Request that we limit processing of your data
Objection: Object to certain types of processing

9. International Data Transfers

Your data is stored on Firebase servers located in the United States. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is rated 17+ and is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 18 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy within the App and updating the "Effective Date" above. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
