Dear {{contact.first_name}}
The recent interest rate cut has sparked the recovery of the South African property market and initiated a new growth cycle.
The last few years have been tough for many of us. Overwhelming challenges have often led to feelings of despair. The reality is, things aren't as they should be. Hard work and effort don’t always yield results. While green shoots provide hope, there’s still much hard work ahead before we see the harvest.
As the saying goes, the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent. So how do we stay positive in a negative world?
I’ve been reflecting on this while tackling various business challenges. I believe gratitude is the foundation of a positive mindset, which is key to a successful life.
We must focus on the impact of our daily actions and not get overwhelmed by costs.
Our economy and lives are constantly changing. Every action has a cost, and we hope the benefits will outweigh that cost.
But sometimes they don’t - tenants may not pay, yet bills still need to be settled. You can work hard to close a deal, only to see it fall apart at the last moment, leaving disappointment in its wake. Or you deliver services, but your creditors don’t pay, and you still have to cover payroll or bills etc.
The answer lies in focusing on the impact of your actions rather than the costs.
Even if your tenant didn’t pay, consider the impact if you don’t find a way to cover your bond. The injustice of not being paid doesn’t remove your responsibility to settle your bills. In my experience, it’s easy to say but hard to do.
I’ve found renewed energy by focusing on the positive impact we have on our hundreds of clients, 30+ staff, and many suppliers through our companies. Our dreams and daily expenses enable others to support their families and keep working towards a better future—for everyone.
Let’s not lose hope; there’s much to look forward to in South Africa.
Since the GNU took over, we've seen a genuine political will to restore law and order and assist property owners with illegal occupants. Government departments are coordinating better, with motivation from the police and other agencies to achieve results. This is a significant step forward for property investors, and we’ve experienced firsthand the positive changes it brings.
We've faced some massive challenges in property management, from finding the right tenants to dealing with utility disconnections, incorrect accounts, debt collection, evictions and even a full-blown building highjacking.
Solving these issues can be difficult, even impossible, especially without the needed experience.
If you need help overcoming challenges like these or know someone who does, please get in touch.
The time to plan your next property move has arrived. Change is happening, and signs of positive growth are already visible. Let’s work together to tackle challenges and plan your next steps in your property journey.
Yours in property
