February in Review 🎉

Hello Autumn 🍂

Summer flew by in the blink of an eye, and just like that, we’ve welcomed the crisp mornings and cosy vibes of a brand-new season!

February kept us on our toes — full of highs, challenges and so many beautiful moments in between. We wrapped up the school holidays with plenty of fun before sending our school-aged participants back to school feeling refreshed and ready for the year ahead.

The kitchen was definitely a highlight this month! We rolled up our sleeves and made homemade chicken nuggets for the very first time — and let’s just say they were a hit. We also whipped up stacks of fluffy pancakes loaded with maple syrup, chocolate drizzle, sprinkles and fresh strawberries. Safe to say there were lots of happy faces around the table!

Love was in the air for Valentine’s Day, with heartfelt handmade cards spreading smiles all around. We also proudly celebrated International Mother Language Day on 21 February. Our community is beautifully diverse, with participants and staff from many cultural backgrounds speaking a wide range of languages. It’s something we truly cherish — our diversity is our strength, and we couldn’t be prouder of the vibrant community we share.

February also marked the beginning of the holy seasons of Lent and Ramadan. We extend our warmest wishes to all participants and staff observing these sacred times — may this Lenten season be meaningful and reflective, and Ramadan bring peace, blessings and togetherness. Ramadan Kareem.

If February is anything to go by, March is going to be just as exciting. We can’t wait to share what’s next — stay tuned!

Changes to the Aged Care system

In case you missed it — big changes have happened in the aged care sector across Australia.

The Aged Care Act 2024 has introduced significant reforms that are reshaping the way support is delivered to older Australians. This marks one of the biggest transformations the sector has seen in years — all designed to create a system that is simpler, fairer and more responsive to individual needs.

A key part of this reform is the launch of the Support at Home program. This new program will streamline services by replacing:

  • Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)

  • Home Care Packages (HCP)

  • Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC)

  • Residential Respite (in certain circumstances)

Instead of the previous four levels, there will now be eight support levels — offering more tailored, flexible care options that better reflect the diverse and changing needs of older Australians.
