The 3-ONE: Feeling Ready, Competitive Threats, & The Fog of Overwhelm

May 20th, 2025 | www.NSCcoaching.com

My observations from over 50 powerful conversations this week with elite CEOs, from a variety of industries, across the Nation that are experiencing tremendous growth in THIS market…

We've distilled the most impactful conversations to share one empowering question stack, one mind-bending bumper-sticker quote, and one concept to challenge your status quo this week.

An Empowering Question Stack to Consider

Stop waiting to feel ready. Ready is not a feeling, it is a decision.” What does “ready” actually mean to me, and is it a realistic standard? What beliefs or stories am I telling myself about needing to be more prepared? What decision or step am I putting off right now that I could choose to make today?

A Mind-Bending, Bumper-Sticker Quote to Consider

“If you’re threatened by your competition, it says more about you, than it does about them. Collaboration happens at the top. Competition happens at the bottom.”

A Concept to Challenge Your Status Quo

Ever feel like your to-do list is multiplying faster than your impact?

The more clarity you have, the less time you need.” - Greg McKeown, Essentialism

Let’s get real. Even the most elite leaders get buried under a mountain of tasks. I’ve been there-sitting at my desk, calendar packed, inbox overflowing, feeling like I’m sprinting on a treadmill that’s only getting faster.

But here’s the counterintuitive truth: You don’t need more hours. You need more clarity.

The Fog of Overwhelm: Why More Time Never Solves It

Imagine a world-class pilot flying through dense fog. More speed won’t help them land safely-only sharper instruments and a clearer flight path will.

The same goes for leadership. When your goals and values are crystal clear, decisions become automatic. The fog lifts. Suddenly, the path ahead is obvious.

Overwhelm isn’t a sign you’re behind. It’s a signal you need to clarify your destination.

From To-Do List to Success ListMost leaders try to outwork overwhelm, piling on hours and effort. But the highest performers do the opposite.  They ruthlessly edit their priorities, focusing only on the handful of actions that move the needle.

Ask yourself:

  • What’s my true objective right now?

  • What’s the ONE thing I can do such that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary?

Everything else is noise.

The Paradox: Clarity needs time... Here’s the twist: Clarity doesn’t come from hustle. It comes from thinking time-the one thing most leaders neglect when overwhelmed.

Block 30 minutes. Step away. Ask yourself the tough questions. In that space, your “success list” will reveal itself-and your decisions will get easier, faster, and more effective.

Challenge for the Week: Fight for 30 minutes of uninterrupted thinking time... Clarify your objective. Cut your list to the vital few.. Watch overwhelm melt away.

If this resonated, forward it to your team or a fellow leader. Because clarity isn’t just a personal advantage-it’s a competitive
