A Concept to Challenge Your Status Quo
When we win the morning we win the day!
In order to win the day we need to have a predetermined goal for us. Yet, how do we define that goal?
One way we can do that is to perform a gap analysis based on our desired objective for the week or month and what our actual results are; leaving a gap between where we are and where we desire to be in your selected time frame. That will give us clarity of the journey we need to make between today and the end of our selected time frame.
As an example, if we have a sales role, we will determine if we have enough qualified leads in our pipeline to close the gap for that time period. If the answer is yes, a candidate goal for the day would be to set an appointment with the qualified leads. If the answer is no, a candidate goal for the day is to add one qualified person to the pipeline each day.
To predetermine the goal for the day before looking at the "todo list for others," aka our email, we can walk through this exercise before looking at our phone in the morning. By performing this exercise in the first five minutes of the day that are indexed for influence it puts ourselves in a position to determine our win and seek others that are in alignment, rather than seek wins for others and hope its a win for us.
By making a promise to ourself that we will complete the success list and then, actually, complete the success list we will get feedback that will present itself as progress towards what we have deemed a worthy goal. That progress leads to fulfillment, in turn, empowers us to honor our personal boundaries and rid ourselves of guilt when not working. In addition, when the process of predetermining the win for the day, building a success list that is within our control, and completing that success list is repeated; our "super power," CONFIDENCE, is enhanced empowering us to be more assertive and magnetic.
