New info, for Medicare!!!
Referrals are back
Almost all Medicare Advantage plans include referrals
If you want to go to a Specialists (anything but a Primary Dr.) you will need a referral to go see him, from your Primary Dr (PCP). I am not a big fan of referrals but they are coming in about all states and just about all plans.
What we are looking at hopefully a temporary change, I don't think this will stay on the books past 5 years but we will see.
What this means is that when you go to your Spec., your PCP will have to give you a referral to the Spec. I know what you are thinking, what if my Spec Dr is not they Dr that I get referred to, even though he is in network? Typically, just tell your PCP and request your current Spec. If anyone has trouble please let me know.
