The role of a politician, as recognized by our founding fathers, outlines upholding the constitution and protecting the rights given to us by our Creator.
The heart of a politician follows a passion to serve and lead – and if that politician has a biblical worldview, passion is rooted in principle and led with dignified courage, following righteousness, not a career.
We need leaders that have a spirit of conviction that know why they believe what they believe and have the courage to fight for it. There is a spiritual battle in politics and at times Christians hesitate to play a role in government. Truth about the Separation of Church and State
The heart of a politician should follow a calling or a purpose. God places each of us in strategic positions of influence. Are you willing to use your position or influence for the benefit of God’s people and Kingdom?
Many of us are willing to encourage and support missionaries on our behalf to go places we are not able to go. It’s no different for politicians who represent us in the difficult world of government. Our governmental leaders need our encouragement and our support! You might ask,”How do we know which politicians to support?”
George Washington said this in his Thanksgiving speech,”It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favors.” In today’s media environment, it's hard to know the real heart of a politician. Do their policies support God’s will? Do they acknowledge an Almighty God, and do they humbly ask for His favor?
God does call specific people to politics, but we believe He calls all of us to be discerning, strong, and courageous in our support of those who represent us.
This is my command-be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
God has great purpose for our leaders and politicians. We should continue to pray that they uphold the protection of our nation in honest service for the good of the people, that the Gospel may be preached and heard without hindrance. Acts 17:26-31
