April offers something many students need: a moment to reset.

Not to start over, but to pause, reflect, and continue with more clarity. By this point in the semester, the pressure can feel real. Deadlines build, motivation shifts, and staying consistent can become more challenging.

We had the privilege of working with 101 scholars at the HBCU Early College Prep High School in Queens, New York.

What began as a conversation about assumptions quickly evolved into something deeper. Students challenged one another to pause before labeling people, ask questions, and look for connections. In those moments of curiosity and honest dialogue, something powerful emerged: understanding.
