Stop Taking My Stuff!

It seems lately we’ve been asked more than usual to help people who have dogs who steal things and then won’t give those things back. Some dogs will even growl, snap, nip, and bite as their family members attempt to retrieve the dog’s ill-gotten gains. In dog training circles, this is often referred to as “resource guarding”. This is the dog’s attempt to retain possession of the item they acquired. The more valuable the item is to the dog, the more motivated they may be to protect it from being taken away.

August's Dog of the Month

Meet Ginger

This beautiful brindle pit mix is a sweet, spicy treat for anyone looking for a loyal, energetic, comical friend.

Gin does great on a leash and might even make a great jogging partner. She has a sense of humor and loves toys but given a choice between spending quality time with “Mr. Snuggle Bottoms” or giving you kisses, it would be smooches, hands down.

Gin is a people person – she loves meeting them and being around them. And we’ve loved being around her. (Unfortunately, she’s been at the NKC Animal Shelter since October.)

We don’t know much about Gin’s past, only that she’s from NKC and was found out “sightseeing” while dragging a tie-out wire. Sadly, her family never came to claim her. She is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.

Her adoption fee is $105.

Want a meet-and-greet with Ginger? Great! Contact the NKC Animal Shelter:

Adopt Ginger and receive a $100 gift certificate from The Dogs’ Spot
