One thing I’ve realised since starting this UB10 newsletter series is that it’s never just about property.

Yes, we’ll always keep an eye on the market and what’s happening locally from a housing perspective, but what really makes an area is the people, businesses, events and sense of community around it.

And something recently summed that up perfectly…

❤️ PAINTING THE TOWN RED

As part of Keller Williams’ international RED Day 2026, we decided to take a slightly different approach this year…

A coffee shop crawl with a difference across Hillingdon and Ickenham

(Arguably one of the best forms of community outreach, if you ask me.)

For those unfamiliar, RED Day stands for:
Renew, Energise and Donate - a global Keller Williams initiative focused on giving back to the communities we serve.

Our “Pay It Forward” initiative involved supporting local cafés across Hillingdon and covering coffees and treats for local clients throughout the day.

Simple idea. Big impact.

It was genuinely brilliant seeing the response, chatting with locals, supporting independent businesses, sharing a bit of kindness, and creating small but meaningful moments across the community.

There were so many friendly cafe owners, and i'm sure many others that we didn't get a chance to visit too! Hope this goes a little way to inspire others to support local businesses too, there are so many on our doorstep after all.

🚀 Hillingdon Expo - 5th June

We’re especially excited to be official exhibitors at this year’s Hillingdon Business Expo.

A great event for anyone involved in local business, social enterprise or charity work - or anyone who just enjoys collecting tote bags and pretending they don’t.

🚀 Business Boost – 11th June

I'll also be speaking at Business Boost - a quarterly networking event organised by the Hillingdon Chamber of Commerce, designed to bring local businesses together in a relaxed, collaborative environment.

I'll be teaching on 'Connecting to Collaborate' at this event. If you run a local business and would like to join us, feel free to reach out and I can share more.

🍽️ Foodie Corner

You know by now I’m a bit of a foodie, so I’m particularly excited about the upcoming Flavours Without Borders Supper Club which I'm co-hosting with Radhika Howarth on the 11th June.

An evening built around conversation, connection and culinary stories?
Very much my kind of event.

And after seeing the menu I can already tell the Mango Shrikhand may become the highlight of my month.

It's an intimate event for just 15 people, held in Ickenham as part of the Ickenham Festival. Do get in touch if you'd like to come along.

Other Local Things Going On (If Networking Isn’t Quite Your Thing)

Not every local event needs a name badge and a LinkedIn connection request afterwards.

So if networking events aren’t quite your idea of a relaxing evening, there’s plenty else happening around locally this month too.

🌳 Outdoor & Community Events

The council has several free outdoor and community events running throughout June, including:

Stable & Secret Garden at Cranford Park - 14 June
London Wildlife Trust Pollinator Walk - 20 June

Perfect if you fancy getting outdoors, exploring locally, or pretending your daily step count is entirely intentional.

Live Music in Ickenham

Uxbridge Folk Club in Ickenham continues to host regular live folk and acoustic evenings throughout June.

A really cosy local option if you prefer smaller venues, live music, and evenings where you can actually hear the person you’re talking to.

(An increasingly underrated feature these days.)

Comedy & Theatre Nearby

At the Beck Theatre in Hayes:

🎤 Gary Delaney: Gary on Laughing - 7 June

Stand-up from the Mock The Week regular, known for his brilliantly dry one-liners.

There are also various touring comedy and music acts continuing throughout the month, so definitely worth checking what’s on locally.

Education & Open Events

For families with teenagers weighing up their next steps (and possibly changing their minds every 48 hours), HRUC Uxbridge College is holding an Open Day at the Uxbridge Campus on 10 June.

A useful opportunity to explore courses, sixth form options and future pathways locally.

Our very own podcast, Hillingdon Speaks has new episodes released every two weeks highlighting the great things people are doing in our local community.

In a recent episode get insights from behind the scenes of local politics with Danny Beales, MP for Uxbridge & South Ruislip.

For me, all of the above shows community isn’t built through grand gestures, it’s built through conversations in coffee shops. Supporting local events. Showing up consistently. Getting to know people properly.
