Your UB10 Update
Local Stories, Familiar Streets & What’s Happening Around Us

Dear Neighbour,

I always enjoy putting these updates together.

There’s something about sharing what’s happening locally; the events, the initiatives, the people, that reminds me why I love calling our area home. It’s easy to focus on the day-to-day, but when you take a step back, you realise just how much is going on around us.

History, community, familiar faces, it’s what makes an area more than just a postcode.

Before we get into anything market-related, I wanted to start with something a little different this month.

Courtesy of the Ickenham Residents’ Association, I’ve been reading about the origins of some of our local street names.

Some are quite straightforward and descriptive... others feel like they’ve got a story behind them that you wish you could go back and witness firsthand.

It does make you wonder, does your road name have a hidden meaning, or was someone just having a particularly creative day?

Now, onto the numbers (I’ll keep this part relatively painless). 📊

Take a look at the key stats below, but one figure that stood out last month was a 10% turnover of sales.

In simple terms, this reflects how many properties are changing hands - essentially, how “fluid” the market is at the moment.

A higher turnover rate usually points to strong demand and confidence, with homes moving more quickly. A lower rate can suggest a slower pace, which often gives buyers a little more room to negotiate.

💡Spotlight: Supporting Local

One thing I’d love to start including in these updates is a regular spotlight on a local charity.

This month, I wanted to highlight Harlington Hospice, an incredible organisation supporting people and families across our community during some of the most difficult times.

Harlington Hospice

It’s one of those charities that quietly does extraordinary work, often behind the scenes.

They also host great fundraisers locally, such as a Charity Quiz Night coming up, which is a great way to support while having a genuinely good evening (and testing how competitive you really are).

If you can support - whether by attending, donating, or simply spreading the word - it all makes a difference.

Community Support: Local Foodbanks

It also felt important to include details of local foodbanks this month.

There’s a strong sense of community in UB10, and part of that is looking out for one another. Whether you’re in a position to donate or simply want to be aware of what support is available locally, it’s always good to know what’s out there.

Small contributions, when multiplied across a community, make a big impact.

🎙️Hillingdon Speaks

Our very own podcast, Hillingdon Speaks has new episodes released every two weeks highlighting the great things people are doing in our local community.

In a recent episode we took a deep dive into the world of futsal and the fantastic work being done by TikiTaka Futsal. ⚽️

It was great to learn more about how they’re bringing young people together, building skills, and creating a real sense of community through sport.

I really enjoyed this one - hopefully you will too.

What’s On Locally

There’s plenty happening over the coming weeks - here are a few of my personal highlights 👇🏼

🎭 Theatre

Ruislip Dramatic Society presents an Alan Ayckbourn comedy Living Together
📅 Wednesday 13 – Saturday 16 May
A comedy centred around a lively (and slightly chaotic) family gathering - with plenty of wine involved, which usually guarantees entertainment. You can also check out plenty of other shows coming up at the Compass Theatre here.

🎷 Music

Stardust Big Band – Live in Eastcote
📅 10th May at Eastcote Community Centre
An evening of swing, jazz and big band classics - one of those nights where you go along thinking you’ll stay for an hour and end up staying for the whole thing.

✈️ Battle of Britain Bunker Events

The Battle of Britain Bunker hosts a number of events throughout the year, including talks, exclusive behind the scenes tours, and commemorative activities. There are two talks coming up in May, including the story of Battle of Britain pilot who came from a farming background in South Africa and Rhodesia, as told by his son.

If you’ve never been to one of these talks, they’re well worth it.

🏏 Sport

With the grass freshly cut, cricket season is officially incoming.

Spending a Saturday afternoon at Ickenham Cricket Club is one of those simple pleasures - relaxed, welcoming, and a great way to enjoy the summer. Fixtures are up on their website if you fancy popping down to support a local friendly club.

I hope you find these updates are a reminder that property is only ever part of the picture.

What really makes an area special is everything around it - the people, the events, the history, the sense of belonging.

And UB10 has plenty of that.

If you’d like to chat about anything property-related, buying, selling, or just understanding where you stand, feel free to reach out.

No pressure, no chasing. Just a conversation.

Take care,
Dayalan
