Hello {{contact.first_name}}, We welcome ambassador Trevor Perry as our guest contributor this week. "A Museum of Joy When we moved into the house, a gazebo was in place on the concrete pad in the backyard. It was open to the elements, but seemed very solid on the ground. It was not so easy to use in the heat of the Austin summer or even much of the colder part of the short winter. We added a firepit, and we enjoyed that during the fall and spring seasons. It was nice to gather with friends outside in the evenings. The one thing that drove us inside were the flying critters. Mosquitos, mosquito hawks (also called a crane fly), wasps, and other bugs joined the party. The bug zapper did not prove to be truly effective, and many times our guests fled into the house for relief. And then, a friend in our neighborhood had a patio built onto the back of her house! Gorgeous and quite large, it was completely surrounded with a knee wall, above which were screens to the roof. A ceiling fan was a nice addition, and even in the summer heat, it is a comfortable place to spend time. We loved the idea of the screens, and decided that we would follow their example and get a quote for our own lean-to-ish patio. When the quote came in at 1/5th of the current value of the house, we decided to revisit our requirements. Since I am an expert IKEA furniture assembly artist, we decided on a gazebo that would need its own construction. This one is now in place, slightly larger than its predecessor, and includes netting and curtains all around. Two people over 5 days for a total of about 9 hours - some of that was learning - and we have a piece of art in our backyard. We plan to call it our “museum”. I moved the furniture in, set up the rug and plants, and it is a beautiful location for many future gatherings. Given the current streak of over 40 days of 100F, there will be few hours of every day spent in the museum for a month or two. What I have discovered is that the museum is a most wonderful place to sit with my coffee in the cool(er) mornings. It’s a time to relax, reflect, and prepare for the day ahead. And yes, I have discovered a new place that is, for me, a Chair of Joy. When the heat dome moves on to the southern hemisphere, you are all welcome." Living Luminary Retreat: Jennifer Cavender, COO at JOYELY and JOYELY Ambassador. Jennifer was a part of this amazing retreat in Sedona, AZ. Here are some words about it from her: "I recently had the privilege of being a part of an incredible retreat in Sedona, AZ where we co-created an entire weekend experience to prepare our hearts and minds, release the things that no longer serve us and claim a deeper acceptance and understanding of joy in our lives. As a co-creator of this beautiful experience I was in awe of the ways we can be so different yet fit so perfectly together in our gifts and talents while serving each other. The "Chair of Joy" experience was pivotal during our weekend. In diverse settings, from the majestic Cathedral Rock, to tranquil streams, and accent chairs surrounded with feathers, we embraced the essence of out chairs. Whether seated in their center of joy at breathtaking heights, immersed in a breathing exercise, or floating on a pink flamingo inflatable "Chair of Joy" in the pool, the experience was transformative. It evoked laughter, tears, and stirred profound conversations. There was overwhelming gratitude for the simple yet powerful ritual of sitting, breathing, thinking, and feeling. Many expressed their enthusiasm for this process and the growing movement. I am eternally grateful for the Chair of Joy practice and my fellow sisters who embraced it so completely."
