Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about our relationship with time—specifically, how twisted it’s gotten. We treat time like it’s a problem to solve, a villain to outmaneuver, or something we’re constantly running out of. (Spoiler: it’s not.) The root of the issue isn’t time itself... It’s how we’re using it.

I Miss When People Wore Watches, Being Busy Isn't a Strategy, and Pee-Wee as Himself

We tap that black screen “just to check the time”… and then eight texts, four emails, two scrolls through Instagram, and a quick TikTok later, we’re stressed because we “lost time.” But time isn’t Freddy Krueger (for those too young to get that reference: he’s a literal nightmare). It’s not out to get you. You didn’t lose time—you just didn’t use it properly.

And yet, despite this constant obsession with managing every second, people are still late. Still “losing track of time.” Still unclear. Still winging it like they’ve got time to burn.

So here’s your PSA: You have the same 24 hours as the rest of us, no matter what title your business card says. No more, no less. And everyone’s time is valuable.

So if you’re that person who chronically shows up late, skips meetings, gives half-baked directions, or treats other people’s schedules like a suggestion? Please stop. My time is just as valuable as yours.

Take Your Time with Communication

Everyone’s looking for the shortcut to perfect communication—some magic phrase or one-size-fits-all script. But here’s the truth: your job isn’t to be a flawless communicator. It’s to be a deliberate one.

That means slowing down, saying what you actually mean, and checking that the other person heard it the way you intended. Clarity beats charisma every time.

Does your communication need a little boost? I have the course for you.

INTRO TO EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION

Assistants: Stop Chasing Time

Whether you’re an assistant, a giraffe or the CEO of a Fortune 100 company, you’ve got 24 hours in a day. And those 24 hours have to include sleep, food, and ideally some form of human interaction that doesn’t involve a calendar invite.

So let’s stop talking about time like it’s some scarce, slippery resource. It’s not about time—it’s about you. Your energy. Your choices. Your boundaries. Your self-management.

Leaders: Being Busy isn't a Strategy

You don’t need more time. You need better boundaries, clearer communication, and the humility to admit that you’re not using the time you have wisely.

Productivity doesn’t come from doing more—it comes from doing the right things, in partnership with the people who make your world go round.

TED TALK: Rory Vaden

A timeless reminder (pun intended) that it’s not about having more hours—it’s about making better choices.

I revisit this one anytime I catch myself blaming the clock. Watch it here.

The Four Agreements (Again)

I reread The Four Agreements every summer to reset my mindset.

Simple, direct truths that somehow hit harder every time—especially "don’t take anything personally".

Pee-wee as Himself

I grew up watching Pee-wee Herman and have always heard stories about how genuinely kind Paul Reubens was.

This new mini-series is both heartwarming and heartbreaking—especially hearing how hard it was to be “different” in the ‘80s. Pee-wee wouldn’t approve of where we’ve landed. Again. Check it out on Max.

Catch me LIVE at EA Ignite!

I’m thrilled to be heading to EA Ignite this October—one of the premier events for high-performing executive assistants and administrative professionals.

This isn’t your average conference. EA Ignite is where strategy meets execution, where support roles are treated like the powerhouse leadership partners they are, and where YOU walk away sharper, bolder, and more equipped to lead from your seat.

I’ll be there speaking on strategic communication and high-impact partnerships, and I’d love to see some familiar faces in the room. Whether you’re there to grow your leadership, strengthen your partnership with your executive, or finally find your people—this event is it.
