Leaders aren’t failing. Alignment is slipping — and identity + resilience is what brings everything back.

THIS EDITION:

Alignment: The Missing Ingredient in Modern Leadership

Feasgar math {{contact.first_name}}

What I’m noticing right now — whether I’m supporting a leader, a team, an organisation or a business owner — is this:

Alignment is slipping, and people are holding far more than they’re saying out loud.

Not because they’re unfocused. Not because they don’t care. But because they’re tired. Stretched. Doing their best in environments that keep changing faster than they can keep themselves steady.

And here’s the truth I keep coming back to:

  • Alignment on its own doesn’t last.

  • Not without identity.

  • Not without resilience.

When people disconnect from who they are and what they value, alignment becomes more about strategy and performance and less about soul and purpose. And when resilience is low, alignment becomes something they’re trying to maintain, rather than something they live.

And that’s when we see the cracks: in confidence, in culture, in decision-making, in relationships, in trust, and in the way people speak to – or avoid – each other.

The good news?
Every one of these things can be rebuilt. Identity. Resilience. Alignment.

And when they come back together, people breathe again. Teams reconnect. Organisations stabilise. Leaders stand taller. And the whole emotional temperature shifts.

This edition takes you inside a real “day in the life” moment – what misalignment looks like when it’s unfolding in front of you, how quickly it spreads, and what it takes to bring people back.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF TURAS: TRUE NORTH IN ACTION

Yesterday began at 5am as I travelled to Hamilton to support an entrepreneur whose business had quietly slipped from clarity into daily 'firefighting'.
She’s capable. Experienced. Values-led. But tired. Drained. And stuck in the weeds of problems she shouldn’t have been carrying alone.

She brought me in to answer one question:
“Why isn’t this working anymore?”

DIAGNOSIS: IDENTITY MISALIGNMENT

Her people, processes, structure, and culture weren’t broken — they were out of sync with who the business had become, and who she had become as a leader.

IMPACT

Declining sales.
Emotional fatigue.
A family culture slowly eroding under pressure.

SYMPTOMS

  • inconsistent performance and avoidable errors

  • systems missing key data needed for decisions

  • rising tension and unspoken conflict

  • blurred roles and unclear expectations

  • communication breaking down between staff

  • anxiety about direction and job security

  • an owner and team running on empty, not feeling connected or supported

Individually, each issue looked manageable.
Collectively, they signalled one truth:

The business had lost connection to its identity — and so had the people inside it.

THE SOLUTION: RESET THE HEARTBEAT

What this business needed wasn’t more effort — it needed alignment.
Clarity. Communication. Culture. Capability. Identity.

Here’s how we’re rebuilding:

1. CLARITY

Reconnecting the business to its direction, values, job expectations, performance measures, processes, and decision-making. Giving everyone the language and structure they need to succeed.

2. COMMUNICATION

Leadership and team conversations that acknowledge the issues, hear what hasn’t been said, and rebuild trust. Resetting communication rhythms that keep alignment alive.

3. CULTURE

Setting clear behavioural expectations.
Supporting two key staff to reset and repair their working relationship.
Restoring the “family feel” in a way that’s healthy, not heavy.

4. STRUCTURE

Realigning roles and responsibilities.
Creating a leadership layer and governance rhythm that takes the pressure off the owner.

5. LEADERSHIP CAPABILITY & RESILIENCE

Coaching the leadership team to lead from confidence, not crisis, building resilience so performance becomes sustainable, not fuelled by adrenaline.

THE TRUTH UNDERNEATH IT ALL

When a business loses identity, alignment slips.
When alignment slips, resilience drops.
And when resilience drops, even the strongest leaders end up carrying the weight alone.

This work is about helping them come home to who they are — as leaders, as a team, as a business — so the next chapter is clearer, stronger, and sustainable.

👇 If you’re a business owner and any part of this rings true, identity misalignment is likely the cause.

Identity-Led Alignment: the New Advantage for Everyone

Identity shifts → alignment slips → resilience drops

The highest-performing organisations aren’t perfect. They’re aligned.

Here’s what identity-led alignment rebuilds:

For Individuals

  • A return to confidence

  • Clear values that simplify decisions

  • Emotional steadiness under pressure

For Teams

  • Trust that becomes visible in behaviour

  • Clean communication

  • Shared expectations that reduce friction

For Organisations

  • Cultural stability

  • Clearer priorities

  • Leadership that actually feels like leadership

For Businesses

  • Strategy that matches identity, not noise

  • Sustainable energy

  • Growth that doesn’t cost wellbeing.

Alignment is the outcome. Identity and resilience are the foundation.
Without them, alignment eventually collapses.

How Do You Know If Your Team Is Aligned?

In my work, I help leaders assess team alignment across six identity-led dimensions:

Alignment Dimension

Shared Purpose & Identity

Values in Action

Clarity of Roles

Psychological Safety & Conflict

Resilience & Adaptability

Collective Accountability

Alignment Dimension

Are we clear on what we’re here to do — and why it matters?

Do our values show up in how we work together every day?

Does everyone understand where they fit and how they contribute?

Can people raise challenges or ideas without fear?

How well do we navigate change together?

Are we moving forward as one — or managing side-by-side?

Even pausing to reflect on these can bring clarity.

And if you know there’s drift, that’s not failure — it’s an invitation.
