🍺 Local Brewery Named One of the UK’s Best

A Suffolk brewery with over 200 years of history is raising a glass to success after being named one of the top 10 breweries in the UK. Mauldons Brewery, based in Sudbury, earned national recognition in the Untappd Community Awards—an annual ranking based on tens of thousands of user reviews across the UK.

Their popular Black Adder stout helped secure the spot, with praise for its smooth finish and rich flavour. The team at Mauldons say the award is a testament to their focus on quality and tradition, and they’re thrilled to see Suffolk’s brewing heritage celebrated on a national scale.

🔍 Hundreds Could Face Jail Over Grooming-Gang Cover-Up, Say Tories”

Senior Conservative figures have claimed that potentially hundreds of officials—including police chiefs, council leaders, social workers, and CPS staff—could face criminal charges for their roles in covering up grooming gang offences. It’s alleged that many failed to act out of fear of being labelled racist.

The comments follow growing pressure on Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, who has now ordered a statutory public inquiry into historical child sexual exploitation cases. The inquiry will revisit over 800 cases and has full legal powers to compel witnesses.

The National Crime Agency will lead the investigation, supported by specialist policing and child protection teams.

This is shaping up to be a major turning point in the national conversation around justice, accountability, and institutional failure.

🎥 Watchlist Picks of the Week

Each week we spotlight two of the most talked-about shows or films streaming right now — and let you know if they’re worth your time.

The Titan Submarine

🌊 Titan: The OceanGate Submersible Disaster (Netflix)

Few stories in recent years captured global attention like the Titan sub tragedy — and this documentary dives deep into every angle. Combining real footage, expert commentary, and emotional interviews, it pieces together the ill-fated expedition to the Titanic wreck.

Whether you followed the search minute by minute or are only now discovering the full story, this is a harrowing, respectful, and utterly absorbing watch. It raises serious questions about risk, innovation, and accountability — all while honouring those who lost their lives.

Watch a Prewiew

🧠 Straw (Netflix)

Tyler Perry steps into serious drama territory with Straw, a film that explores the emotional tipping points people face when pushed to the edge. Anchored by a powerful performance from Taraji P. Henson, it’s a thought-provoking and, at times, shocking story that doesn’t offer easy answers.

The film takes viewers through intense personal struggles, systemic injustices, and moments of quiet desperation — making it one of Perry’s most daring and talked-about works to date. A tough but rewarding watch that invites discussion well after the credits roll.
