Dear ones,
I am writing to you from the Santa Lucia Highlands today, where I am sitting with the contentedness of just finishing the planting of our family vegetable garden. My mother was a talented gardener, creating an abundant food basket for our family out of the loose, volcanic soils on the eastern slopes of Mt. Lassen (Maidu territory), which also had its challenges of summer seasons never fully free of frost. Her garden was a place I could go for a snack and for some soothing. I now count on my garden to provide nourishment and physiological safety to me in these times.
Along with the completion of our garden, I am thrilled to share a few additional completions of new offerings on the horizon. The first has been long in the making. Within the next month, my book, Matriarch Makeover~ a 30-day invitation will be available for order at a community bookstore near you, and also online at bookshop.org. In addition, I just completed the reading of the book for an audio version as well, to be released before Līgo, the summer solstice. More to be announced soon.
I am also joyously moving along with the monthly online course which I am personally facilitating. It will likely be my only online offering this year based on the book, so please drop in if you'd like to be in this tender and affirming community. The next session is on May 14th and there is a Book Circle link below.
Finally, I am working on a new series of offerings on Matriarchal Governance, the practice of folding these core values into the ways we convene and the documents we use to make decisions. Keep an eye out for an online course in the next couple of months, meant for practitioners (lawyers, mediators and others) and a new book.
With care and respect,
Maija
