Scopa Italian Roots Presents: Alto Adige

Wagyu burger with fries and a craft beer at The Local Peasant happy hour

For one night only, Scopa Italian Roots invites you to experience its first-ever Alto Adige wine dinner—an intimate 6-course journey inspired by the breathtaking Dolomites of Northern Italy.

Some wineries chase trends. Alois Lageder has spent six generations chasing something harder to bottle: diversity itself.

Based in Magrè, right where the Dolomites meet the Adige Valley, this family estate has been growing grapes since 1823 — with oxen in the vineyard and a philosophy that healthy soil makes honest wine.

As of 2024, their estate and their 60 partner growers are farmed organically/bio-dynamically. That's not a marketing footnote; that's a whole region's worth of commitment.

Alto Adige itself is the real secret weapon here: Alpine and Mediterranean in the same breath, with microclimates stacked on top of each other like terraces.

Lageder works across 30 grape varieties to capture that range, from crisp, mineral whites to their icon, the LOWENGANG Chardonnay — a wine that's been quietly rewriting what Alpine Chardonnay can be since 1984—a featured pairing in our upcoming wine dinner on October 1st with Helena Lageder.

We're pouring the Misto Mare Pinot Gris by the glass this month; it's tiny but mighty — crisp alpine citrus notes. Come taste why diversity, not uniformity, is what makes a vineyard sing at Scopa Italian Roots.
