A Closer Look at Tuition and the Legacy Scholarship
Each year, Lakewood Park implements a modest tuition increase. While I understand that any increase is felt, I continue to hear from families how much they value the quality and Christ-centered education their children receive here.
I also know that the $5,000 Legacy Scholarship has raised questions. This scholarship exists to help cover the true cost to educate a student at Lakewood Park. That cost includes not only teachers, curriculum, and technology, but also the facility growth and long-term capital improvements needed to support a growing school.
The Legacy Scholarship allows generous donor funds, given through a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO), to be lawfully and effectively applied to our school.
I’d like to share a quote from the Executive Director of the Lutheran SGO:
“It is up to each school to determine its true cost to educate a child, and therefore its posted tuition. Some schools are able to boost their tuition because they have a robust base of support through an SGO or other donation sources. If you are at a school that can increase its tuition by $5,000 but is willing to cover that increase through scholarships, that’s pretty special. Most schools don’t have that kind of support.”
We are truly blessed at Lakewood Park to have such support and to be able to reinvest those resources back into our students, staff, and facilities.
