26/27 HS Worship Team Auditions

Auditions for next year's Worship Team will take place on the 18th & 20th, right after school. Each student auditioning for a musical role will need to have a song prepared for their audition. Reach out to Mrs. Stonecypher with any questions.

Caring for Textbooks

Students who have not covered their books and have noticeable wear-and-tear on them from not doing so, have damaged their book(s), or have lost their books will be assessed fees via FACTS at the end of the year.

1. Be sure to cover all hard-cover textbooks to help protect them from corner and edge damages.

2. Cloth or paper bag covers will both accomplish the goal, but please avoid using red-colored items. Red tends to bleed into the the textbook covers and pages.

3. Your student should look carefully for any damages in the textbooks s/he received and report them immediately to Mrs. Witmer or Mrs. Nichter to ensure the damaged is already logged or to acquire a new textbook, if deemed necessary.

PE Credit Waivers

Just a reminder: If you are missing a PE credit and completed an IHSAA sport with LPCS this winter, you can fill out a PE waiver form found outside Mrs. Crider's office to meet the requirement of this credit. See Mrs. Crider if you have questions!

HS Student Door-Dashing

Just a reminder that Door Dashing can be ordered by high schoolers, but the only allowable pickup time is during lunchtime. Also, all deliveries must be made through the Main Office- opening doors to receive deliveries is against our Safe School protocols and may result in disciplinary action. One of our highest priorities is the safety of our kids, and we all need to work together on that goal. If the delivery requires a PIN, we cannot accept the order, and it will be sent back, unless the delivery person will stay and wait for the student's lunchtime.

Parent Partnership Cell Phone Policy

1. Cell phones should not be accessed during class periods- either in a classroom or at lockers.

2. If a student accesses their phone during a class period, the student will receive a referral, and the reporting staff member will have the phone or device taken to the Office to be picked up by a parent at the end of the day. In the case that a parent cannot pick up the device at the end of the day, the student will need to turn in his/her device for the duration of the next school day.

High School Service Hours

Each high school student must complete 25+ hours of service per year attending (high school) at Lakewood Park. These hours should be outside of school hours (there are a few exceptions) and should be broken into 25 hours/year. If you have questions regarding your service hours, you can email our School Counselor, Mrs. Heidi Crider (hcrider@lakewoodpark.org). The link to submit service hours is here.

Emergency Protocols

Though we never hope for an emergency, we know they can happen, and we prepare and practice for them. As a parent, it's important to know how we respond in different situations. If you are around the building at the time of a practice drill, you will be asked to participate in the drill as if it were a real emergency. Below is a graphic that's posted in our building, so everyone knows what to do in the case of any of these scenarios.

A Note from our School Counselor:

We have seen an uptick in students expressing feelings of anxiety. Sometimes it's just a normal part of life; but at other times, additional support might be needed during a tough time. Sometimes it's hard to know what to do as a parent. Here's a blog post suggested by Mrs. Crider to help parents consider when to seek additional help or support for their children.

Nurse Erin

REMINDER

If a student is not feeling well, s/he needs to go to the Nurse to be evaluated instead of just contacting parents to come pick them up from school. If the student is evaluated, and it's determined by the Nurse that they need to go home, it's an excused absence. If the student is just picked-up without evaluation, that's an unexcused absence.

REMINDER

Students are NOT permitted to keep medications in their bookbags during the day. All medications MUST be turned into the clinic. Any medications in student possession will be confiscated and reported to administration.

Emergency medications such as albuterol or epinephrine may be carried by 5th-12th graders if a doctor’s note has been turned into the clinic giving permission to do so. Click below to review all clinic & school health policies.

School Year NtKs

Reporting Absences:

On-time arrival to both school and to class periods is a vital part of a student's academic success. However, we understand that illnesses and other unexpected family events happen. In case of needing to report an absence, please:

• Email our Registrar at attendance@lakewoodpark.org or call the Main Office (260-925-1393).

• Submit any needed documentation or doctor's notes.

• Have students look at Google Classrooms and check-in with their teachers to ensure all school work, including tests & quizzes, are made-up and submitted.

Student Drivers:

• Students must fill out a Driver Registration form (at the Main Office or during Back to School Night) and obtain a parking permit to display in the vehicle.

  • Student parking permits cost $5

  • A student will receive at least two written warnings before driving privileges are revoked for the day/week/month/semester, etc.

• Students who drive elementary students to school must assume responsibility for assisting them into the building while using designated crosswalks.

• Violators of campus speed limits may lose the privilege of driving to and from school at an administrator's/SRO's discretion.

• Any misconduct or failure to obey staff on duty directing traffic before or after school may result in the suspension of driving privileges.

• Student drivers are required to be insured and understand that parents/guardians bear any liability due to an accident that is incurred by the student while operating a vehicle on the Lakewood campus. The school is not responsible for vehicle damage that occurs while on campus or at any other school-sponsored event.

Dress Code Summary (5th-12th):

• Shoes must be worn at all times. 

• Outdoor jackets and coats, hats, hoods, sunglasses, and bandanas are not to be worn inside the school building during school hours.

• The styling of the hair shall reflect moderation in respect to current trends. Unnaturally colored hair is not permitted.

• Tattoos must be covered at all times during the school day.

• Tight fitting or sheer/see-through garments or clothes are not permitted.

• Tops: Collared shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, t-shirts, button-down shirts are all acceptable.

  • Tops which expose underclothing such as bralettes, bra straps, or other similar garments are not acceptable.

  • Tops with open backs, open shoulders, or scoop/low necklines should not be worn.

  • Tops that expose the midriff when standing, sitting, or raising the arms are not permitted.

  • Sleeveless tops or dresses should be worn over a top with sleeves or worn under a sweater or jacket with sleeves. 

• Bottoms: Jeans, dress pants, khakis, joggers (made of non-athletic/non-sweatpant material) are all acceptable.

  • Jeans that are designed with holes can be worn as long as: No open holes, rips, or tears are above the knee, unless the opening is completely patched and/or leggings are worn underneath.  The number and size of holes, rips, or tears should be modest, and will be prohibited at the discretion of the administrator.  For safety purposes, no excessive fraying or long material is permitted around the bottom of clothing. 

  • Non-athletic shorts are permitted during 1st & 4th quarters.

    • Shorts must be modest in length, having a minimum of a 6” inseam.

    • If shorts are made of quick-dry-type material, they should have belt loops and back pockets (ie. golf shorts).

    • The principal’s/dean’s discretion will be the determining factor.

    • Girls only: Dresses or skirts must reach the knee if worn without leggings. Leggings/jeggings can only be worn under a skirt or dress that is no more than 4” above the knee. Long shirts do not count as a dress or skirt.

Parent Partnership Personal Device Policy (9th-12th):

Cell phones are permitted at school, but must remain in lockers during class periods (bell-to-bell).  High School students may access their personal devices during lunch and passing periods during the school day, as well as before and after school.

• If a student’s cell phone or smart device (including smart watch or other text-able device) is seen or heard during a class period, Chapel, or Team Time; or seen in the hallway during a class period, it is a violation of school’s policy.

• The student will receive a referral, and the reporting staff member will have the phone or device taken to the Office to be picked up by a parent at the end of the day. In the case that a parent cannot pick up the device at the end of the day, the student will need to turn in his/her device for the duration of the next school day.

• The first offense will result in a verbal warning; second a lunch detention; third and beyond a Friday Night School or as determined by administration.
