Hudson Maynard

What is your occupation?

I am a Project Manager for Residential Custom Home builds in coastal MA.

Hobbies/Interests?

Anything that involves physical movement. My nickname has always been Fullspeed. Ha ha. I’m always up for any challenge. I also love animals. Dogs and cats in particular. A lot of animals deserve better and I wish I could help them all.

Tell CFD something we may not know about you?

I grew up on a home built sail boat. Sailed around the world. 24 countries, 6 years. I was 8 when we left. Came back for the grind of high school and hated it.

When did you start Crossfitting?

I’m 62 and I don’t remember that far back. I’ve done 10 or 11 CF Opens so at least that long.

What do you like most about CFD?

Great coaching. I have learned so much from the great coaches here at CFD. They aren’t just here to warm you up and leave you with 3-2-1 go. They pay attention and actually coach you.

The community. It can be competitive if you want it to be but is incredibly supportive and encouraging no matter where you are on your fitness journey.

What was your 1st CrossFit workout?

I don’t recall but I’m sure I didn’t pace it right and was humbled. But I was hooked.

In what ways has CrossFit changed your life?

In CrossFit I found a sport that I enjoyed enough to bring long term athletic consistency into my life. Through the years and my competitive interest shifts, CrossFit has shifted with me. At 61 I am a different athlete than I was in my 50’s but here I am, showing up to the Box because it still works for me.

Favorite workout/movement?

I love a lot of things but if I had to chose, I would put Wall balls, rowing, and the Assault bike in a 5 rounder for time with :30 rest between rounds. That would get the lactate going. Ha ha.

Least favorite workout/movement?

I’m not fond of the bench press, and it shows.

Any advice you would give to the newbies?

Just by showing up you are doing better than 98% of the population. Be yourself, there is no need to compare yourself to others, and you are in the right place doing the right thing. I respect you for being here and I know others here do too.

Kevin Bennett

What is your occupation?

Real estate.

Hobbies/Interests?

Sailing and apparently at the moment, boat building

Tell CFD something we may not know about you.

I lived on a sailboat for 7 years as a kid, and

again for 2.5 years with Lizz in 2007-2009.

When did you start Crossfitting?

2019, about 6 months before COVID.

What do you like most about CFD?

Community and coaching, for sure. I’ve been to probably 50 boxes across the country/world, the people at CFD are as warm and welcoming as I’ve found at any box.

What was your 1st CrossFit workout?

I can’t remember my first workout, but I definitely remember my first open workout which was very early on. I couldn’t make it when everyone else did it and had to do it solo, was a ladder of snatches and bar-facing burpees. I had no idea how to pace, came out hot, and absolutely wrecked myself.

In what ways has CrossFit changed your life?

Strangely, fixed my shoulders. I had been doing mostly bodybuilding type lifting, and was doing far too much pushing exercises and not enough pulling.

What is your favorite workout/movement?

Depends on the day. I enjoy working on things I’m not good at.

Least favorite workout/movement?

Devil’s Press. Do not want.

Any advice you would give to the newbies?

Form, form, form. Err on the side of not hurting yourself.
