Bob DembitzkiWhat is your occupation? Vice President of Marr Scaffolding Company in South Boston. I have worked in the scaffold and concrete construction industry since 1986. We primarily scaffold large scale buildings and shore or support buildings that are in danger of collapse. My job allows me access to places that most never see, I’ve worked on the roof of the prudential building, inside the dome of the state house, many of the old churches, long closed MBTA tunnels, we just reached the peak of the clock tower at Harvard University with scaffold at about 200’ in height.
Hobbies/Interests?
My wife and I just became grandparents! Perfect new hobby and interest. So that’s super cool.
When did you start Crossfitting?
Started Crossfit in September 2018, somehow that’s almost 8 years ago.

What do you like most about CFD?
The community, hands down. Everyone is supportive, motivating, and it truly feels like a second family. And Of course, Coach Rob What was your 1st CrossFit workout?
When we started, we did that elements class with Coach Steve, we had to do burpees and a couple other exercises and realized how out of shape I really was. In what ways has Crossfit changed your life?
I had never joined a gym and exercised regularly my entire life, health issues started to creep up, so I figured I’d try to change that. I still have health issues and now my body is sore too. Go figure.

Favorite workout/movement?
Favorite movements are push presses, clean and jerks. I like pushups and pull ups but since shoulder surgery, I’ve been slow to get those back.
Least favorite workout/movement?
Least favorite is this recent squat snatch complex thing we’ve been doing. Please end them.
Any advice you would give to the newbies?
Don’t worry about what others are doing or what you think you should be doing for weights. If I had to start over, I would like to think I would’ve spent a lot more time building strength and cardio.

Iesha Collins. My occupation is in construction (house remodeling). 2 I love going to Home Depot lol (it's my place to de-stress 3. There are warm-up exercises I didn't know in English, and I had to watch my teammates to learn them. (Sorry, coaches that's a lot of words to write down.) 4. I started in 2018, but I haven't been consistent from 2021 until now. 5. They made me feel like family, and I appreciated the effort the coaches made to help me understand them (because my English is basic). 6. My introduction to CrossFit was with FRAN, with a weight of 75 lbs and strict pull-ups 7. Wow! In many ways, in unimaginable ways, both physically and mentally. And of course, with the hand of God 8. Snatch, ring muscle up, and hand stand push ups 9. I don’t like deadlift, and run 10. Listen to your coaches, progress through movements that are difficult for you, and stretch after every workout. I’ve worked in a couple different areas of nursing and so far it’s my favorite.
Hobbies/Interests?
My hobbies are pretty basic… reading thrillers, gardening and travel. I love camping, animals, nature and the beach. We started raising chickens last year which has been fun. A lot of my time is now filled with kid activities and just being a mom. We love to travel to other countries. We used to travel more before we had kids, and still do, but it’s at a much slower pace.
Tell CFD something we don't know about you.
I drive a stick shift car. It wasn’t the easiest for me to learn but now I love it. I’ve also done a shark cage dive in South Africa which was terrifying but would 100% do it again. When did you start Crossfitting? I think it was 2019. I was so nervous that I wouldn’t be able to do it before I learned about the beauty of scaling.
What do you like most about CFD?
The coaches are the best! They are great at pushing me and give great instruction. Everyone is so welcoming and encouraging and it’s a great community to be a part of.

What was your 1st CrossFit workout?
All I remember is doing the intro class with the PVC and the next day I could hardly move. In what ways has CrossFit changed your life?
CrossFit has helped me focus on my health. I have always struggled with being overweight but CrossFit doesn’t allow me to be stagnant and lets me consistently challenge myself. I’m hoping to instill in my kids the importance of exercise and health.

Favorite workout/movement?
Squats and box jumps.

What inspired you to be a Crossfit coach? I've been a personal trainer for 30 years my passion has always been helping others. CrossFit allows me to help people move better and feel better.
What is your best coaching experience so far?
Was coaching my 55+ games athlete Page Lockhart at the CrossFit games multiple times. Watching her progress over the years and then make the games at 55+ and everyday watching her accomplish things she never thought possible. Just getting to be behind the scenes at the games is also just amazing.
If you could give someone new to Crossfit just one piece of advice, what would it be?
Take it easy! It's doesn't have to be hard every day and you should scale everything for a few months until you are always finishing the workouts in the top half of class then you can start to add more weights and more intensity.
