Rachel Kinsolving. My occupation is in construction (house remodeling). 2 I love going to Home Depot lol (it's my place to de-stress 3. There are warm-up exercises I didn't know in English, and I had to watch my teammates to learn them. (Sorry, coaches that's a lot of words to write down.) 4. I started in 2018, but I haven't been consistent from 2021 until now. 5. They made me feel like family, and I appreciated the effort the coaches made to help me understand them (because my English is basic). 6. My introduction to CrossFit was with FRAN, with a weight of 75 lbs and strict pull-ups 7. Wow! In many ways, in unimaginable ways, both physically and mentally. And of course, with the hand of God 8. Snatch, ring muscle up, and hand stand push ups 9. I don’t like deadlift, and run 10. Listen to your coaches, progress through movements that are difficult for you, and stretch after every workout. I went to school for Landscape Architecture, and practiced in California for many years. But after our second child was born, I paused work to be with our three boys.
Hobbies/Interests?
I really love good, healthy food. We live on a farm and have a herd of beef cows. So we eat lots of organic grass-fed beef. When I’m not eating, I like to get outside — either for a run, a bike ride, walk with friends, or ski in the winter. One of my favorite winter activities is skiing with family and friends. I also spend a lot of time on the sideline for my kids soccer, lacrosse, and hockey games.
Tell CFD something we don't know about you.
Oh geez…Well the week after I graduated college, I hopped on a bike and rode across the country from New Haven, CT to Seattle, WA. My longest ride before that point was 10 miles. Ooops. When did you start Crossfitting?
I started right when I moved out to California in 2009 - so about 17 years ago. My then boyfriend was doing Crossfit, and told me I had to do it. It didn’t take much convincing! I’ve been doing it ever since, and through three pregnancies. What do you like most about CFD?
The community and camaraderie: anyone can workout alone, but CFD brings us all together. AND! We get a workout in.

What was your 1st CrossFit workout?
I remember my first on-ramp class at my old gym (Crossfit Santa Cruz Central) with Eva T (one of the nasty girls) and we worked on snatching. In what ways has CrossFit changed your life?
Ok, this could be a long one. BUT I’ll keep it short. Yes, Crossfit keeps me physically healthy, but arguably Crossfit has helped more with my mental health. Any stressed adult needs an outlet, and for me Crossfit and the gym community has always been a stabilizing balance to life. Favorite workout/movement?
I think OHS or snatches maybe…. Least favorite workout/movement?
Thrusters. Without a doubt. Any advice you would give to the newbies?
1) Listen to your body and scale appropriately. 2) Listen to the coaches and try to work on good form. It will pay dividends later.

Meet Nicholas OlendzkiWhat is your occupation?
I'm a clinical psychologist at UMass's counseling center. I help students overcome anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. How long have you been doing Crossfit?
I started this year back in May, so around 8 or 9 months now! What brought you to CFD?
The reasons to get in shape piled up too high to ignore: feeling and looking better, sure, but also being able to help aging parents, being more physically capable in an increasingly chaotic/unpredictable world, to go have new adventures in life without worrying whether my body can handle it...and all it costs is getting up a bit earlier and some temporary discomfort. I live a stone's throw away from CFD so I ran out of excuses NOT to go. On top of all of that, everyone's been really friendly and welcoming so far. It's a great community! What are your hobbies and interests?
Anything out in nature is my happy place, so I like to do some hiking around the Dartmouth area. I also have a podcast with a few friends, and I like stereotypically nerdy things like D&D.Not sure if he counts as a "hobby" but I also spend a fair bit of time with my adorable cat, Hobbes (pic included)! What's something unique about you that most people don't know?
A few years ago I published a book. It's on a pretty niche professional topic, but it's been well received and I'm proud to have it out there in the world!

What inspired you to be a Crossfit coach?
My full time job is a teacher so naturally I love to teach and help people. When I first started at Crossfit Dartmouth in 2020, I absolutely loved the coaches and was inspired by all of them. I truly love Crossfit and it is such an important part of my life! What has been your best coaching experience so far?
Everyday that I get the opportunity to coach is a great day! Over the years it has been incredible to watch members grow ,especially getting to witness them get a new PR on a barbell movement or watch them get their “first”.
If you could give someone new to Crossfit one piece of advice, what would it be?
If I could give any piece of advice to new members it would be to not compare yourself to others. Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses and it is 100% okay to scale a movement when needed. I also think it is important to know that everyone started their journey at one time and through consistency and determination you can achieve big things! Everything takes time and don’t get discouraged if you “can’t” do something yet. Never give up and always be proud of the wins no matter how big or small you think they are.
How long have your been Crossfitting and coaching?
I started Crossfit in August of 2020. I had recently got engaged and was looking for a new gym since we had just moved to Dartmouth. Mike and I were out with my cousin and her husband and they recommended Crossfit to me and I figured if she could do it so could I. I will never forget texting Justin to do my intro class and then canceling the day before because I was scared. A few days later I worked up the courage to text again for the intro and ended up joining. Since starting Crossfit 5 years ago, I have grown in so many ways but especially my strength and believing in myself that I can in fact do hard things. I started coaching around March of 2023 and it was one of the best things I decided to do.

Do you remember your first Crossfit workout? If so, how did it go?
When I went back in SugarWod, my first score that I logged was on August 11, 2020! The workout was called “ Acid Trip” (I know it sounds awful haha), It was 5 rounds of 10 burpees, 400m run, 10 burpees and rest 90 seconds in between each round.
If "Michele" was a WOD, what would it be?
If “Michele” was a WOD, it would be 4 rounds for time of some combination of deadlifts, calories on the bike and kettlebell swings. What is one thing everyone should know about you that they may not know?
One thing that people should know about me is that I am a Special Education teacher for the Fall River Public Schools. I absolutely love traveling, anything outdoors, going on cruises and anything related to Disney. I also love my little growing family more than anything in this world.
