Alison KlinmanWhat is your occupation?I’m a Medicare Broker. I help people on Medicare choose their insurance plans.
Hobbies/Interests?
I love pole dancing, nutrition and exercise science, cooking, singing, and hanging out with family.
Tell CFD something we don't know about you.
Prior to moving to Massachusetts I was in a pro circus aerial arts training program in New York City. I trained 20 hours per week in flying trapeze, static trapeze, and aerial silks. I also taught and performed these disciplines for 13 straight summers at the largest children’s circus in the world. When I moved to MA, there wasn’t a lot here in that arena so I took up pole dancing and fitness to fill the void, which I fell in love with. I actually just completed the Pole Sport Organization’s Northeast Pole Championships in Boston on November 24th and and will be completing my pole dancing, aerial, and group fitness teaching certification within the next couple of months. When did you start Crossfitting?
I started CrossFit in 2017. It was a time in my life when I wasn’t in the best shape and I saw the CrossFit games on the TV in a bar and I thought, that looks awesome, I’d like to do that! An hour later, I found the closest gym to me at the time and called them to set up an elements class. What do you like most about CFD?
The best part about CFD is the community. I felt at home here almost immediately. I love that you are celebrated here for hard work and that as long as you are a good sport, it is ok to be a little competitive. I love this sport and it’s so nice to be around people and coaches that feel the same. Also - the coaching is impeccable - I feel so grateful to get the opportunity to work with every single one…I guess I that was more than one thing…

What was your 1st CrossFit workout?
It was a workout I did an elements class. Something with thrusters and burpees and maybe box step ups? I remember it was a 10 minute AMRAP and the first round I was like, this is gonna be ok, and I realized by round 3 that I was only 2 minutes in and that I might die before the end of the 10 minutes. In what ways has CrossFit changed your life?
I spent A LOT of time, energy, and focus for way too much of my life in the pursuit of being “skinny.” CrossFit put me on the path to a bigger why for fitness. I found the fulfillment in being strong and healthy and taking care of the body that I am so blessed to have. I found that in the pursuit of being the best version of myself, all of the preoccupations I had with my physical body have slowly been falling away and in their place I am finding purpose and joy. Favorite workout/movement?
I really like Fran and bench press. Least favorite workout/movement?
Right now the movements I struggle with are overhead barbell lifts and double unders but i work twice as hard on the stuff that’s hard so hopefully in 6 months to a year those will be some of my favorites. Any advice you would give to the newbies?
Just hang in there and give yourself grace. Just showing up is more than 99% of people out there are doing. Just focus on how many days a week you want to come and focus on being consistent. If you just keep showing up, you’ll look in the mirror one day and see that you’ve become a person you never dreamed possible.

Garrett GomesWhat is your occupation?Currently, I serve as a school adjustment counselor. I've been in this position since 2018. In this role, I work at the intersection of education and mental health, supporting students' emotional well-being, fostering resilence, and helping them navigate challenges both in and out of the classroom. I run individual and group lessons focusing on social emotional skills like (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and decision making). It's a deeply rewarding profession that allows me to make a meaningful impact on young lives every day.
Hobbies/Interests?
My hobbies and interest are spending time with family and friends. I'm lucky to have a close relationship with my brother Wade aka Coach Wade aka the WOD Father as well as a core group of high school friends. I especially enjoy time spent with my beautiful smart lovely wife Stephanie and our sweet little man Kingston. I'm very interested in the field of longevity (life extension). There's some fascinating research into extending life. I follow Andrew Huberman, Peter Attia, and Rhonda Patrick. Pro tip get morning sunlight in your eyes (not through a window) as close to waking up as possible.
Tell CFD something we don't know about you.
I'm a skilled beatboxer. When did you start Crossfitting?
I think it was 2011? Sometime around that! I'm not 100% sure. What do you like most about CFD?
I love working out with everyone! I grew up playing sports and it's that competitive aspect of it that keeps me going. Doesn't matter if you're 2 reps behind me or 2 reps ahead of me. Scaling or not scaling. I pick a few and just try to stay ahead. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail. It's that and it's the people. I love just being able to come to the gym and set aside everything else going on in the world and just focus on working out. I've met some great people! Coach Gowell delivered my baby boy and Dr. Frias is my baby boy's amazing pediatrician. How cool is that?

What was your 1st CrossFit workout?
I have no idea. We're talking over a decade ago! It was at CrossFit Bridgewater that's all I remember. In what ways has CrossFit changed your life?
I'm much more dedicated to my long term health. I was never consistent with working out. I'd do the old back, bi's, tri's, shoulders, chest, legs routine and would just get bored and just not go. Now I have my own home gym with all the equipment you'd see in a CrossFit gym! Favorite workout/movement?
Being taller 6’3” is not to my advantage in CrossFit were the average male CrossFit Games winner is 5'9"! So I'll take wall balls and rowing any day! My favorite barbell movement is a power clean. Least favorite workout/movement?
Thrusters! Maybe it has something to do with having to engage your core so much but sometimes I get queasy when doing them! The worst! Any advice you would give to the newbies?
Don't be afraid to ask questions. The coaches at CFD are the best and are there to help you with form. Nothing worse than injuring yourself because of bad form. The great thing about CFD is the coaches care so much about form they want everyone to improve. Also you can scale every movement! If it hurts you're doing something wrong! Stop and humble yourself. Much better to live to fight another day rather than sit on the sidelines because you didn't listen to your body.

Meet Vini BarreirosWhat is your occupation?I am a HR Analyst for the State of RI, dealing with military staff and emergency management.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?Since September of this year. I am very new to CrossFit and learning something new each week.
What brought you to CFD?I’ve been an athlete my entire life, played sports throughout high-school and football all through out college. I have experience in power lifting but over the years have gotten bored with the process. I looked into cross fit and was drawn to the high intensity combination of cardio and weights. Also, seeing how everyone pushes each other reminded me of my football days doing team lifts where I would be motivated to perform my best.
What are your hobbies and interests? Some of my hobbies include watching Celtics and patriots games, playing in men’s basketball leagues and occasionally playing video games. I also enjoy coaching as I have been a high school football and track & field coach over the last few years.
What’s something unique about you that most people don’t know?A lot of people don’t know that I was born in Brazil. I can solve a rubix cube in under 3 minutes. And I also enjoy traveling and have been to places like Dubai, Paris, and London to name a few.

How long have you been doing CrossFit?On/Off for a year or 2!

What are your hobbies and interests?I love to fish, snowboard, golf, travel and play guitar. I love to spend time with family and friends.
What’s something unique about you that most people don’t know?My wife and I just traveled across the US states this year in a bus converted into a camper for 6 months!
