Hobbies/Interests?
CrossFit, duh. I also enjoy hiking in the woods, reading, and playing mahjong with my military spouse friends.
Tell CFD something we don't know about you.
During the years I lived in England, I was coxswain in a men’s 4 that practiced on the beautiful River Ouse and competed at Head of the River Thames in London and Ironbridge Gorge Regatta in Shropshire. When did you start Crossfitting?
February 2013 What do you like most about CFD?
The people, both coaches and other athletes. We all support each other and are there to do our best (whatever that may be today), but always make sure we are having fun at the same time.

What was your 1st CrossFit workout?
I have no idea, but I remember driving to the class (I had won a free week at a wellness expo) and realizing that CrossFit had so many elements that work for me. It has the energy of a class, weights to throw around, coaches to guide me and the constant variation keeps my brain happy. I’ve never looked back. In what ways has CrossFit changed your life?
My favorite mantra is on the wall. “I can do hard things.” When I am in that dark place in a tough workout, it’s that digging deep within myself to just get the next rep, and the next one, and the next. I think they call that grit. And, I am stronger and fitter than at any time prior to 40 which is perfect timing for perimenopause! Favorite workout/movement?
It’s got to be deadlifts, but I’m also a big fan of box jumps and kettlebell swings.Least favorite workout/movement?
Burpees, thrusters, wall balls. Do you see a trend? Any advice you would give to the newbies?
First, record everything in SugarWOD from Day 1. Second, every single person you see in that gym was a newbie once. We all started with light weights until we had the strength and technique to go heavier. Some of the really complex things you see other people doing took YEARS to be able to do. Don’t be hard on yourself, I promise you that we are all cheering you on as you learn how to physically and mentally “do hard things”.

Stephanie WhalenWhat is your occupation?I'm the owner of Savage Advertising Solutions, Inc. We do vehicle lettering, vehicle wraps, interior & exterior signage, print, apparel, and promotional items.
Hobbies/Interests?
Pickleball. I've been playing for the past year.
Tell CFD something we don't know about you.
I lived in Saudi Arabia for 4 years and owned a snack bar which we feed 180 villas on the compound. When did you start Crossfitting?
I started when CFD didn't have a gym yet and we met at Brooklawn Park. So I guess I'm one of the original gangsters, lol. What do you like most about CFD?
The coaches first and foremost. They are a greaet gropu of people here helping us reach our greatest potential. And not having to think about what to do for a workout it's all programmed for us. Next would be the 6am crew, who gets up that early and loves to recieve all this punishment, lol.

What was your 1st CrossFit workout?
That's a hard one to remember. I've been doing this so long. But I do remember when we were working out at Buttonwood Park, there was a lot of running during one of the workouts, ugh. In what ways has CrossFit changed your life?
Crossfit saved my life! I was overweight and in my 50's, just about to go on high blood pressure medicine and my son who is friends with Jason said you have to go to Jay's classes that he's starting up. I lost weight and no meds. Life is good. Favorite workout/movement?
I don't have a favorite workout but I do have a favorite movement. I love doing power cleans.Least favorite workout/movement?
This is easy - running. I HATE RUNNING, lol I wish I loved it but I don't. I say no more. Second would be snatches. Hate them. What a strenuous overhead lift. Any advice you would give to the newbies?
I say this to the newbies I meet, just take things slow. This way you avoid getting hurt. So many times we try to keep up with the more experienced athletes or we push ourselves to the point where we end up hurt. Not worth it. You'll eventually get where you want to be.

Meet Braden BallmanoWhat is your occupation?I am a scheduler for Black & Veatch and just moved out here to take over for the Vineyard Wind project.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?I have been doing CrossFit for about 6 years
What brought you to CFD?One of the first things I did when I learned I was going to be moving to the area for work was look up CrossFit gyms in the area and I found CrossFit Dartmouth and it looked like a good gym.
What are your hobbies and interests?My life is a pretty constant cycle of work, CrossFit and golf.
What’s something unique about you that most people don’t know?I guess something unique about me now living in this area is that I am a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan

Meet Danielle ArrudaWhat is your occupation?I am a middle school guidance counselor and volleyball coach at Morton in Fall River. I also bartend weddings at The Villa in East Bridgewater.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?I’m 3 classes in :)
What brought you to CFD?My boyfriend, Richard, has been going for a few years now. He convinced me to join him so we can workout together.
What are your hobbies and interests?I love reading, traveling, yoga, going to the beach, and hanging out with family.
What’s something unique about you that most people don’t know?I’ve been to 13 different countries and can’t wait to see more.

Meet Lindsey DuncanWhat is your occupation?I work as a Nurse Anesthetist. I was an ER nurse for a long time prior to anesthesia school.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?I’ve done some CrossFit off & on since 2018 in different locations throughout New England. It’s been atleast 3 years since I’ve done anything CrossFit-like though, so was nervous to get started again, but everyone has been super welcoming.
What brought you to CFD?I was looking for a gym that had classes either high intensity or weight lifting that I could go to straight from work 2x a week. Only CrossFit has a combo of both strength training & HIIT. I liked the inclusivity of this particular CrossFit with people of all different ages & abilities.. plus I love the loud music.
What are your hobbies and interests?I’m a big beach bum, and like being outdoors in general. I love to learn new things, and embark on new adventures. We recently had a little boy, who just turned a year- Niko! He’s so fun, and watching him learn & grow has been so cool. I also just started skateboarding, trying to surf, and I’ve been learning Greek for almost a year!!
What’s something unique about you that most people don’t know?When I was a kid, I used to go Country Line Dancing regularly
