For more than 60 years, CR Laine has proudly made customized, bench-crafted upholstery in Hickory, NC. They thoughtfully design and meticulously craft everything they build with a level of comfort that they proudly stand by, and you can comfortably sit in for years to come. While they utilize new processes and equipment, they've held to time-tested premium construction features, such as eight-way hand-tied springs.

How It's Made

Comfortable seating begins with rows of double-coil steel springs positioned within the frame supported by a platform of poly webbing and steel bands, where applicable. Artisans then tie each coil to the frame with fine twine in eight directions. Eight-way hand-tied suspension is a heritage technique that requires exceptional skill and creates a signature "sit" that is soft, supportive, and flexible.

Seat cushions are constructed with high-resiliency soy-based foam wrapped in fiber and then encased in a soft fabric ticking which reduces abrasion and helps fabric wear longer. Loose back cushions are baffled to hold the fiber in place.

Sustainable Story

CR Laine is committed to preserving natural resources. To that end, frames are made from hardwoods harvested from the Appalachian mountain region of the USA. An analysis by the USDA found the supplier's intensive forestry management has provided the Appalachian mountain region with a consistent increase in hardwood growth for the past 50+ years. This means any CR Laine purchase has not and will not compromise the lumber needs of future generations.
