What's New in Port Wentworth!

Update from the City Manager

As we are rounding the turn from Winter to Spring,  it reminds me of the bright and sunny future we have in our incredible City, with opportunities continuing to present themselves and your elected leadership and City staff working to ensure we continue to build and support a world-class City and stand out in the Region. The City has seen a wealth of positive press already this year, with our newly initiated partnership to provide CAT service to the residents and businesses in Port Wentworth (Click HERE to read more), which we hope every citizen will take an opportunity to utilize as an option to enjoy a ride to Savannah without the stress of driving.  The City also received for the second year in a row, as a testament to the great work of our Chief Financial Officer Tom Kilmartin and his team, a second CLEAN AUDIT of the City’s finances, a benchmark achievement and enhances the attractiveness of our City, as we continue to offer a competitive millage rate in the Savannah-Metro region. (Click HERE to read more).

We also had a fantastic turnout for the City’s second Annual Black History Month Celebration, which brought out incredible crowds to celebrate with the City on the City Hall Lawn, with presentations, celebration, fun and fellowship for all.  In the coming months, we will be focused on a number of initiatives, including working on a plan to beautify Highway 21 and a multi-use trail plan, to connect the City residents without needing a car and to access our 150-acre sports park, which will also have some additional updates as we continue to see the progress continue with our park development.

In April, be on the lookout for an invitation to the groundbreaking of our new $8 million dollar fire station right off Highway 30! (Click HERE to read more).  As always, be sure to visit www.portwentworthga.gov for all City announcements or to contact any of our City Departments and staff.  Thank you for continuing to choose Port Wentworth to Live, Experience and Thrive!

In Service,
