Fall 2025:

Celebrating Seasons & Change

To Our Readers,

As the seasons change and the vibrant energy of summer gives way to the crisp days of fall, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible impact we’ve made together this past season and, to share what’s ahead.

This summer was one of our most inspiring yet. From sports programs and summer camps to Parks After Dark events and tree-planting projects, our parks were alive with connection and purpose. We also celebrated major improvements, like the new turf field at Rancho Bernardo Community Park and upgraded basketball courts at Linda Vista Community Park. Thanks to our partners, donors, and volunteers, more youth and families enjoyed safe, welcoming outdoor spaces.

In September, we welcomed our Fall 2025 Park Ambassador Cohort, young leaders ages 16–24 exploring careers in public service, environmental stewardship, and community engagement. They're gaining hands-on experience while helping us care for the parks that unite San Diego.

Thank you for being part of this mission. Together, we’re not just maintaining parks, we’re planting futures.

With gratitude,

Leona Sublett

Introducing Our Fall 2025

Park Ambassador Cohort

This fall, we’ve been having a blast with our newest Park Ambassador Cohort — young leaders ages 16–24 dedicated to making an impact in San Diego’s parks!

They’ve already supported Balboa Park’s Haunted Trails, helping ensure a fun and safe experience for all. Since then, they’ve completed essential safety training in:

  • Child Safety

  • Emergency Procedures

  • First Aid & CPR Certification

Up next: professional development sessions on résumé writing, letters of interest, and interview prep to help them grow as community leaders.

Through the San Diego Parks Foundation’s Park Ambassador Program, we’re not just nurturing vibrant parks — we’re investing in the next generation of changemakers.
