SHOWCASE NATIONALS 2027
INITIAL INFORMATION
Hi Troupe Families
We are super excited to be taking our Troupes to Showcase Nationals in January 2027! For some you have done this before and for some this is completely new, so please find all initial information below with more to come over the following months.
WHY DO WE DO NATIONALS?
Nationals is a great chance for our students to compete against and watch some of the best dancers from Australia and NZ. It is a really different atmosphere to other eisteddfod’s that the students do throughout the year and is great fun and has always been a great team building and bonding exercise.
The trip will be an overall experience for our dancers and will include workshops, rehearsals, team bonding opportunities as well as the dancing and competition.
WHAT IS SHOWCASE?
Showcase is a National and International competition that holds over 50 official locations for qualifiers throughout the year and culminates in their National Finals Event at the Gold Coast. Troupes need to qualify to be invited to participate in Nationals. Our Troupes usually qualify from one of the EBSDN eisteddfods they compete at throughout the year.
WHEN & WHERE IS SHOWCASE?
Showcase Nationals
The Star, Gold Coast
11th - 17th January 2026 (inclusive).
It is expected that if you attend, you attend for the full duration of time as sometimes our Troupes or Soloists are invited to attend the Battle of the Stars event on the final evening. We will confirm further information about the schedule for each day in due course.
WHICH DANCES ARE PERFORMED AT NATIONALS?
We hope that most Troupes will have 2-4 dances to perform. We may also do some extra optional dances just for students attending Nationals, and/or a Production Routine that involves ALL dancers from ALL Troupes, this is yet to be confirmed.
All Troupes will be invited, however, depending on numbers will determine if all Troupes attend Nationals or not. As we need to submit our entries at the end of the month we need to get an idea on who will be attending.
WHAT COSTS ARE INVOLVED WITH NATIONALS?
Attending Nationals will involve some additional costs for rehearsals and costumes which will communicated in due course. In the past there has been a Showcase Nationals Fee of around $250 plus a costume fee.
Other costs involve ticketing to watch along with travel and accommodation arrangements as outlined below.
TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS
Travel arrangements are up to each individual family, this includes flights, accommodation etc.
There are a few options for accommodation close to the venue, The Star Grand or The Star Residences who will have packages available for Showcase attendees. You can see what is available, special offers for Showcase families and book via the Showcase Website here.
Another accommodation option is the Meriton (across the road). Of course you are able to arrange something else if you prefer and/or wait until later in the year to book anything, that is entirely up to you. The above are just options and suggestions for where most families will stay.
EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORM
ALL families are required to please submit the below Expression of Interest form by Friday 10th April 2026 to advise whether you think you will or will not be able to attend.
