Stop trying to prove your past. Start signaling your future.

Hey friends,

She didn’t build her career by waiting to be chosen.
She built it by preparing relentlessly, building relationships, exploring what was possible, and positioning herself for the opportunities she wanted, not just the ones that were posted.

That’s not luck. It’s strategy.
One that any driven professional can use, whether you're stepping into bigger leadership, pivoting industries, or simply ready to grow into your next chapter.

Here’s what high-growth professionals do differently:

1. Reposition first, don’t just update.

When you’re ready for your next role, don’t start by updating your LinkedIn.

Start by asking:

  • What kind of business impact do I want to be known for?

  • What story does my profile currently tell and what story should it tell?

  • What level am I aiming for?

Your resume or LinkedIn shouldn’t just say,

“Here’s what I’ve done.”

It should clearly say,

“Here’s who I am now and here’s where I’m going.”

That’s what opens the right doors.

2. Stop applying. Start signaling.

People who land the most aligned roles aren’t flooding job boards.

They’re quietly shaping how they’re perceived and making it easy for decision-makers to see their value.

That could look like:

  • Updating your LinkedIn headline to reflect the kind of work you want, not just the role you had

  • Sharing short posts or insights that reflect how you think about results

  • Reaching out with thoughtful, well-timed messages that build connection, not just ask for help

It’s about showing up with intention and letting people know what you’re ready for.

Often, it’s one strong profile view or message, not a mass application — that shifts your path.

3. Show up like a consultant, not a candidate.

When you're heading into a pivotal conversation, whether it's an interview, a networking meeting, or even an informal referral chat, don’t just show up trying to impress.

Show up with the mindset of a consultant.

That means:

  • You've done your homework

  • You understand the organization’s context

  • You’re ready to talk about challenges, not just your résumé

Consultants don’t show up to prove they’re “a fit.”
They show up to help define the problem and open a pathway toward solving it.

So instead of waiting for perfect information or rushing to offer tactics, do what great consultants do:

  • Reflect back what you’ve heard about their priorities

  • Offer a lens or framework grounded in your experience

  • Ask thoughtful questions that reveal what’s really at stake

  • Outline how you’d think through a solution, without assuming you have all the answers

This is not about you feeling pressured to ‘say the right things.’
It’s about showing up with the expertise you already have.

And no, you’re not “giving away free work.”
It’s about earning trust, by showing that you don’t just want the role…
You’re ready to contribute real value.

Here’s the shift to remember:

If you’re always trying to “prove” yourself, you stay stuck in what you’ve already done.

But when you reposition, signal clearly, and speak from insight:
You stop applying.
You start attracting.

Because people don’t hire titles.

They hire clarity, value, and vision.
