Your pivots and pauses aren't liabilities. They’re the very proof of your leadership.

If your career path has been anything but linear, this one’s for you.

Because what looks “off track” on paper is often where your real strength was forged.

Hello {{contact.first_name}},

A recent Fast Company article said something that stopped me in my tracks:

“The [career] ladder was never built to hold the weight of multiple roles and ambitions.”

And I can’t stop thinking about it, because it’s so true.

So many of the brilliant professionals I work with have built their careers in the margins:

👉 Between caregiving and late-night work blocks
👉 After stepping back to start over
👉 While shifting roles (again) to keep life working

They’ve patched together careers like quilts, resourceful, resilient, and real.

And still, I hear the same doubts:

I should be further along.”
“My path looks too messy.”
“I’m behind.”

But here’s the truth:

Your pauses and pivots? That’s not what’s holding you back.

What holds you back is the belief that only a linear path is a valid one.

It’s not.

The workplace is finally starting to wake up to what multi-hyphenate leaders have known all along:

🌀 Nonlinear paths build adaptability
🌀 Shifting gears builds emotional intelligence
🌀 Reinventing yourself builds courage and creativity

And these are the very leadership muscles we need most right now.

So let’s stop apologizing for the shape of our careers.

Let’s stop judging ourselves by a system that was never designed with us in mind.

You’re not behind.
You’re not broken.
You’re not off track.

You’re exactly where you’re meant to be, and your next chapter is still yours to write.

Your Next Step: Try on a New Thought

If you're realizing you’ve been quietly apologizing for the shape of your career, let this be your turning point.

Because the most powerful shift you can make isn’t fixing your resume or trying to “spin” your story.

It’s starting to believe differently about the story you already have.

Try these thoughts on for size:

💭 “There’s nothing wrong with my path. It was preparing me all along.”
💭 “I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.”
💭 “My value isn’t in how neatly I’ve climbed; it’s in the skills I’ve built and the difference those skills make.”
💭 “My nonlinear story is an asset. Not everyone can navigate change. I can.”

Now ask yourself:

🌀 What would shift if I truly believed this?
🌀 How would I carry myself differently in interviews, meetings, and conversations?
🌀 What opportunities might open up if I owned my story instead of minimizing it?

Because here’s the truth:

You can’t wait for someone else to validate your worth before you start owning it.

You hold the energy first.

Others will catch up.

Cheering you on,

STUDIO TIME

What’s better than career strategy? Career momentum.

For all current and past clients and Career Accelerator students:

STUDIO TIME is back on November 6, and this session is a must-attend.
We’ll be exploring how to leverage professional associations, groups, and meetups to:

  • Discover career paths you didn’t even know existed

  • Seed new opportunities (before they’re posted)

  • Expand your network intentionally

  • Position yourself as a thought leader — without shouting

Special guest Malory Weber (Entrepreneur, Consultant, and Director of Strategy & Ops) will join us to share how joining one professional association became a surprising game-changer — and what she had to overcome to make it happen.

Studio Time is lifetime access for all 1:1 clients and Career Accelerator participants — a space to refine, recalibrate, and grow alongside others doing the work.

Twice a month. On purpose. Packed with value.

Not in yet?
Join the waitlist for the Career Accelerator and get access starting with our January cohort or get immediate access when we work 1:1.

Let’s make 2026 the year your career takes off!

We'd love to hear from you!
