But lots of people pretended that this wasn’t the case.
They sat there with their boxes full of talents on their laps and waited patiently, respectably to get noticed. They saw that there were jobs out there, and they knew they could do them, so they kept holding out their boxes, hoping someone would see how good they were.
It was hard and frustrating.
They had worked so hard to fill their boxes with exceptional talents. But no one so much as glanced their way. Feeling more despondent with each passing day, they even started to wonder if their box of talents wasn’t that good after all.
Meanwhile, there were some folks with smaller boxes, even some with lesser talents.
These folks noticed that people were super busy and mostly worried about their own careers and companies, so they decided to figure out how they could help.
They studied the problems these busy people had. They unpacked their boxes of talents and designed clever and catchy applications that made the busy people’s lives a bit easier. They added some eye-catching glitter in the busy people’s favorite colors, and they made sure they went where the busy people hung out.
When the busy people saw the solutions to their problems (solutions that had been crafted from the smaller boxes, even some with lesser talents), they wanted more.
These were valuable solutions and applications after all!
This is exactly what we need, they said. Now our lives are easier!
So, they hired the folks with the smaller boxes, even some with lesser talents.
They invited them in, promoted them, and paid them well.
The end.
Tune in next week for tips on how to sell yourself better in today’s busy world!
