Leading Patron for The British School of Excellence

My dearest friends,

This week I want to share something that truly lifted my spirits.

I recently read a wonderful article by our alumna, Maria Bologna, a graduate of The British School of Excellence Train the Trainer programme. Her words are a gentle reminder that etiquette is not about perfection or a long list of rules – it is about kindness, respect, and making others feel comfortable in our company.

Maria speaks so clearly about how simple gestures – offering a warm smile, listening with genuine interest, or remembering a person’s name – can transform an encounter. These are not grand actions, but small choices we can make every day to create a sense of ease for those around us.

What struck me most is her point that etiquette is not only for formal dinners or special occasions. It belongs in our daily lives – at work, at home, and in every conversation. It gives us confidence to walk into a room, to introduce ourselves with grace, and to know how to handle different situations with calm assurance.

I hope you find her reflections as encouraging as I did. They remind us that confidence grows not from being flawless, but from showing consideration and respect. And that is something each of us can do, starting today.
