My dearest friends,

On Graceful Conduct in the Mall
A Charming Reflection Courtesy of Our Ambassador, Mansi Mehta of Mumbai

My dearest readers,

I hope this letter finds you in a moment of calm—or perhaps poised for a delightful excursion. Today, I write with such pleasure, inspired by a splendidly curated Instagram Reel by none other than Mansi Mehta, our brilliant Ambassador for India from The British School of Excellence, based in the vibrant heart of Mumbai.

Mansi’s Reel—charmingly titled “Mastering Mall Manners: A Quick Guide to Being Respectful in...” —offers practical, instantly helpful etiquette tips for modern-day mall outings. What struck me most was how, in under a minute, she weaves everyday courtesy into our daily routines—from stepping onto the escalator with composure to maintaining fitting-room courtesy, all rendered with such poise and warmth.

In cities as spirited as ours, the mall is more than a place to shop—it’s a setting where we present ourselves to the world. Mansi’s guidance reminds us that elegance need not be reserved for formal affairs—it can show up in the mundane, in the everyday. A gentle step on the escalator, a quiet pause for someone entering a store, mindful spacing in a dressing area—these are the brushstrokes of civility in the public sphere.

Let us carry forward Mansi’s thoughtful counsel:

  • On the Escalator: Stand slightly aside, allowing others to pass with ease—grace in motion.

  • In the Fitting Room: Leave the space as you wish to find it—consideration is invisible kindness.

  • In General Movements: Remember that every corridor and every door is a ballet of interactions—small gestures make the dance smooth.

Mansi, your elegant direction for navigating bustling spaces with ease brings a quiet sophistication to our everyday lives. You’ve shown us that etiquette isn’t a set of rules—it’s the art of making others feel seen, respected, and comfortable.

Thank you, dear readers, for letting me share this lovely inspiration. Do take a moment to watch Mansi’s Reel—may it gently transform your next trip to the mall into an opportunity to practice grace.

Not Every Hero Wears a Cape

Some build scholarships, movements, and hope.

That’s the story of Dr Justina Mutale.

She’s an international bestselling author, a global voice for women and girls, and the founder of the Justina Mutale Foundation, which provides scholarships for young African women who once thought university was out of reach.

Her impact is global:

  • She created POSITIVE RUNWAY, blending fashion and activism to fight HIV/AIDS.

  • She’s spoken on world stages – the UN, the African Union, the Commonwealth.

  • She’s been recognised as African Woman of the Year and listed among the 100 Most Influential African Women.

But here’s the real inspiration:

She didn’t wait for permission. She didn’t let background or barriers hold her back. She chose purpose, and purpose carried her across the world.

And for me, her impact has been deeply personal.

Dr Justina invested in me, believed in me before I even knew who I was. She took me in, gave me access to global stages, and made space for me at the table. For over 15 years, she has held my hand, mentored me, and rooted for me. She gave me opportunities that money could never buy. There is no telling my story without her name woven into it.

For the young girl doubting her path.

For the woman juggling dreams and responsibilities.

For the leader, wondering if she’s enough.

Dr Justina’s life is proof: you are more than enough.

Your voice matters. Your story matters. And your journey can inspire generations."

Dear Dr Justina,

What an honour it is to witness such heartfelt words shared in your name.

The tribute from Fatoumata Diallo published on LinkedIn is not only moving, but also richly deserved. I was deeply touched by the sincerity of her message and the profound impact that your presence and mentorship have clearly had on her life. It is a rare and beautiful thing to be spoken of with such warmth, truth and reverence — not for titles or accolades alone, but for the way you truly show up in this world.

You are a woman of remarkable conviction.
A woman who does not wait to be invited — but instead creates new spaces for others to flourish.
A woman whose strength lies not in display, but in purpose.

Your legacy, already so widely recognised across continents and institutions, becomes all the more powerful when it is told through the lives you have lifted. The Justina Mutale Foundation, POSITIVE RUNWAY, your countless speeches on world platforms — these are not just accomplishments. They are anchors of hope for those who have long been unseen, unheard or overlooked.

Within The British School of Excellence, we are especially proud to count you as one of our esteemed Train the Trainer Alumni. You carry our shared values with grace, intellect and bold humanity, and your leadership inspires not only the next generation of women and girls, but those of us privileged to walk beside you.

It is said that greatness is not what we achieve, but what we help others to achieve.
You embody this in every sense.

Please accept my warmest congratulations on this public celebration of your work, your influence and your extraordinary spirit. The world is brighter because of you.

With admiration and affection,

With warmest wishes,

Lady Arabella
