Q: CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT THE YARD GYM AND HOW IT STARTED?
Dan: The Yard Gym was born out of a genuine desire to revolutionise the fitness industry. After spending over 15 years working across all facets of fitness - from coaching and personal training to managing gyms and developing group training models - I saw a real gap in the market. Most programs were either overly focused on aesthetics or lacked the structure and intention behind functional performance.
I wanted to create a training model that genuinely balanced strength and conditioning - where power, endurance, cardiovascular fitness, and functional movement could all coexist in a cohesive, progressive program. That’s what led to the development of our dual-zone training concept, combining the RIG (for strength) and the TURF (for conditioning), allowing members to experience both sides of performance within one consistent system.
But just as important was the community element. It’s not just about turning up to train - it’s about belonging to something bigger, having a clear sense of purpose, and being surrounded by people who uplift you. That’s what The Yard is all about.
Tiarne: We also knew that experience mattered just as much as programming. We wanted to build a space that didn’t just deliver world-class training but also felt aspirational - a lifestyle people were proud to be part of. The fitness industry was missing that intersection of performance, luxury, and community.
Our vision was to create an environment that’s both elevated and inclusive. Whether it’s through refined interiors, considered branding, or premium apparel, every element of The Yard is designed to inspire and empower.
What we’ve built is more than just a gym. It’s a complete ecosystem where training, design, and culture meet, and where members can show up as their best selves, both inside and outside the gym.
