Where Tips Can Improve Your Life

Tap Your Superpowers NOW

"No one is you, and THAT is your Superpower"

– David Grohl, Rock Singer

‘Ever wondered what your superpowers are or if you have any? Maybe you haven’t discovered them. Or you take it for granted. It’s easy for you and harder for others.

Sometimes humility gets in the way. You’re reluctant to assign high value to what your superpower brings to your business. You believe it needs to obviously have more fanfare to qualify as a true superpower.

A superpower is based in how you perceive things. You see other uses for something that already exists rather than inventing something from scratch. And that new application can be making something smaller or bigger, made from a different material, used in a different industry or profession, or combined with other things that already exist to make the combination itself new.

In each case, a superpower could be small and the results huge. A good example of that is Post-it Notes(R) . The glue formula was initially considered a failure. Someone deemed that glue ideal for an application that became part of daily life for many people worldwide.

There is an end product that did not exist, was made “wrong,” and became one of the biggest-selling products in the world.

Your superpower could be uniqueness in a turn of a phrase, adding fun or memorability to how you write or speak. For you, it’s as natural as breathing. You might be scrolling on social media, see a photo of a bed full of orphan socks, and the idea lightbulb over your head transforms those socks into the basis of a free online children’s activity club with no barrier to entry while simultaneously collecting email addresses of the adults joining the club for their young children.

Do you excel at navigating color combinations? A small bright red storage product in a car with children’s graphics is specifically for children. The same product in black would be for adults. Speaking of children, imagine noticing a restaurant with a shelf of children’s books, crayons, and placemats to color. Your superpower is making that observation and approaching the restaurant to buy copies of your brandable tips booklet on parenting to give the children’s parents. Gifts for everyone, increasing that family’s return to that restaurant.

Speaking of everyone, during COVID, it was impossible to reach corporate decision makers for large-quantity purchases of tips products of any kind. A client’s children’s book about a little girl sad to be moving from her friends became a great item to distribute differently than a standard marketing and sales path. Realizing the story was perfect for military families, rather than selling copies to the military, two non-profits whose mission was to support military families became the exact vehicle for a friend exploring places to make tax-deductible donations to meaningful causes. Rather than going through military channels that could take forever and be a test of many things, multiple entities benefited by this path instead.

  1. Donor (who made a substantial tax-deductible contribution)

  2. Two non-profits (whose mission was supported)

  3. Book author (who made a sale)

  4. Transaction orchestrator (who never did anything like this before)

  5. 500 families (who received a gift copy of the book)

You have superpowers (yes, more than one). You do something or have specialties that differentiate you from the crowd. It’s your unique special sauce. Think about what you probably do easily, love doing, are already doing, or have wanted to do. Focus on doing more of it or narrowing your focus, time, and energy. Let the world know it’s how you bring the results they want from something that brings you joy. And if you must have a tee shirt or cape with a big “S” on it, so be it.
