Where Tips Can Improve Your Life

Consistency Matters - Even with Tips

“Consistency is the true foundation of trust. Either keep your promises or do not make them.”

― Roy T. Bennett

Ever had a friend, colleague, or family member who wholeheartedly means what they say when they say it, yet rarely follows through? They mean well, they do. Yet you’ve realized, more often than not, that you can’t count on them, unless you’re living in the land of Wish, Dream, and Hope that this time, they really will keep their word. Their pattern is established. It’s on you to deal with that.

Do you lower expectations, see them less, create unstructured gatherings, or decide you’ve had enough, looking elsewhere for whatever you thought they add to your life?

Among your past, current, and future clients, you’ve probably also experienced “I’ll send you the material/payment/feedback this week.” Again, you have choices.

What if YOU are like that? You mean what you say when you say it, frequently falling short of delivering your promise. And, your attitude is some form of “that’s just how I am.” Now THAT is something you CAN manage.

Small changes can deliver great rewards.

  • You offer a checklist as a gift to people hearing your interview or masterclass, neglecting to create and distribute a link to download the checklist in exchange for their email address. Who can create this for you if you can’t?

  • Someone online is eager to discuss your offers. The networking session ends with neither having the other’s contact information. How about adding your phone or URL to your Zoom name or a QR code on your virtual background?

  • Notice your reaction when seeing a disorganized website or product. Whether consciously or not, that can diminish your trust in that business. Your writing style, design, steps to work with you – they all matter.

Have you discovered a tips writing formula that’s been successful for over three decades?  It’s not the ONLY formula or approach for writing tips. It has prompted rewards:

Have you discovered a tips writing formula that’s been successful for over three decades?  It’s not the ONLY formula or approach for writing tips. It has prompted rewards:

Both sentences total 50 words or less. That formula is also an example of a tip, in only 30 words. Using this formula consistently to create 52 tips gives your reader or listener more information than only the tip’s content.

Some of what It says about you, the Subject Matter Expert is that you:

  • simplify the learning process

  • distribute your knowledge in digestible amounts

  • realize the importance of starting with the basics

  • are trustworthy in your consistency

  • care that the student actually learns

Create every tip with TWO sentences, not three. Tell the reader or listener clearly what TO do in every single tip, rather than what NOT to do in any of them. Keep the tip under 50 words, less is more. There will be other opportunities to teach more later when they’re coming back for more!  Following the above tips formula works, and it works well. It can let you help more people and make more money in your business.

In case you equate consistency with being rigid or absolute, worry not. There is plenty of room for creativity in all these situations and still be consistent. Start with small changes in whatever warrants it, one challenge at a time.  You’re very likely to also discover those small changes delivering big rewards.

An Exciting New Resource

After many years of looking for an Intellectual Property Attorney for referring my clients to review content licensing contracts, I finally found one and couldn’t be happier. Actually, a highly respected colleague in the self-publishing world found him. Knowing how discerning my colleague is, I reached out, scheduled what was an excellent Zoom meeting, and am thrilled to introduce you.

Please meet Joseph Perry, Esq.   I chuckled seeing his business address in White Plains, NY – my stomping ground for years before San Diego. Intellectual Property law is a niche in the legal world, different and beyond what a general business lawyer knows. It doesn’t matter where you are in the US. Intellectual Property law is federal not state based.

Read his blog. He explains complex concepts in plain simple English. He accepted my invitation to Guest Blog on the TipsProducts.com blog once a month. He’s smart, down-to-earth, personable, and shares my business philosophy of co-creating rather than adversarial. How refreshing! Since I’m creating opportunities to learn more and profit from content licensing, it’s time!!
