Where Tips Can Improve Your Life

“Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together.” ― Vincent Van Gogh

But How-to Tips Are So...

Short?

Valuable?

Easy?

Basic?

Appreciated?

Yup

Uh huh

Correct

Right

Indeed

… and a whole bunch of other good things! Like so many things in life, it can be tempting to look at an idea from a positive view, a negative view, or both. It could even be a neutral position of no real opinion at all. That five-item list above is a reminder of a few of the many valuable aspects of the how-to tips you share with your audiences, clients, students, colleagues, and anyone else who might find them useful.

Before reading this article, you’ve had an opinion about how and even if tips fit into your writing, speaking, product development, and marketing. Your opinion has brought you to reading this article with a curious mind, an experience of confirmation of what you already think about your tips, or you might be sitting on the fence about the whole thing hoping to have an awakening about the whole thing by something you never considered.

Tips are a starting point, for you and for your audience. You can always expand both - your tips and your audience! Keeping tips short helps your reader or listener learn a small bit of potentially valuable information quickly and easily. Busy people and people who are naturally curious about many things appreciate the small portion of information you provide so they can add that to what they already know.

While the temptation is high to give your readers and listeners a generous share of your expertise each time they connect with you, there is time for that later. The tips can be recorded to provide an audio version, an entire course, a whole book, and many other formats that expand that tip starting point. Keep in mind that How-to Tips Are So…short, valuable, easy, basic, AND appreciated!!

Where to Find Your Best Clients

Everywhere and anywhere. While that may seem grandiose and certainly scattered at the very least, my recent clients have come from some unimaginable, unpredictable sources.

One, in particular, was a big reminder of how life works. I enrolled for a mini-course a buddy of mine was offering. The topic (which will go unmentioned) was something I had very little interest in.

However, the unspoken rule in this particular friendship was (and is) that we support each other’s efforts. Period. When my buddy asked me to share what my business is about, another student in the class shouted “oh, I’ve gotta talk with you!” That led to a multi-month lovely retainer agreement with a well-recognized company. I’ve got a whole new perspective on attending classes, especially given by people who ask audience members to give a brief bit about their business!
