How Has Your Skin Fared Over Summer?

Between beach days, school holidays, and daily errands, most of us have had more sun exposure than we realise.

We recently answered some of the common sun questions we hear. A few quick takeaways:

1. Can you get sun damage through car windows?

Yes, partially. Windscreens block most UVB (burning rays) but allow UVA through, which contributes to skin ageing and long-term damage.

2. How quickly does sun damage happen?

Faster than most people think. UV-related skin changes can begin in as little as 10–15 minutes during peak summer.

3. Are UV ratings exaggerated?

No. South Australia frequently records extreme UV levels due to our latitude and reflective surfaces like sand and water.

If you haven't had one of these quick, painless checks for a while, book now and know how your skin's fared over summer.

FYI: Doctors only check areas that get high sun exposure, like your face, neck and arms, and/or places your feel comfortable with.

Perimenopause: The Stage Many Women Aren’t Warned About

For many women, perimenopause often begins in their 40s, and often earlier, as they can experience symptoms without realising what’s happening. It can start years before menopause itself.

Understanding perimenopause can reduce stress and that feeling of “something’s just not quite right.”

If this sounds familiar, we take an easy-to-understand look at perimenopause, its signs, and why understanding it early can reduce stress and confusion.

What To Do If Your Child Keeps Getting Sick

It can feel like your child catches every bug going around. In early years, that’s often normal as immune systems develop.

Book a review if:

  • Illnesses are severe or long-lasting

  • Growth or weight gain seems off

  • You’re concerned about development

  • Your child is struggling to enjoy being active

We offer children’s health checks, growth monitoring, immunisations, and support for common concerns.

Thanks for reading and being part of our Christies Beach community. We look forward to caring for you and your family soon.
