A NOTE FROM MISS KATE M:

Happy October!! We have a FUN month ahead!!

Recital costumes and songs: Check the slat wall in the lobby for the recital poster and recital website info! We can't wait for you to see the costumes this year and see what songs everyone will be dancing to. Miss Chealse chose them all and they all have a special meaning or lesson in them. We know it will be a GREAT show as always!

Halloween dances: Classes are now working on learning their Halloween dances! We will show them to each other and families at the end of the month (see below for more details). It's such a fun and festive time of year and we just love it!

Trunk or Treat: Our 3rd annual event is coming up! We love being able to offer this free event for our dance families and always have such a great showing. We can't wait to see you all there. See below for more details!

IMPORTANT: Please do not park directly in front of the sidewalk by our mailbox. We need that space clear so that dancers can get dropped off safely during those cRaZy parking lot hours (between 4:30-7pm or so). We used to have no parking signs there, but sadly the city took them down. Thank you for your help!!!

WAY TO GO PERFORMING CO

AND SPARKLE SQUAD!!

Our Performing Company and Sparkle Squad were at the Walk to End Alzheimers on Saturday. Performing Company pumped up the walkers with their energetic performance and then both PC and Sparkle Squad cheered the walkers on!!

This is one of our favorite events. We love being able to get into the community, use our love of dance to bring joy and hope to others. And it's so fun to see the dancers from the 2 teams bond together!! Way to go dancers!!

Special thanks to Miss Deanna (and her daughter), Miss Ashley and Miss Chealse for leading them!!

Our 3rd annual LDC Trunk or Treat is less than a month away (Sunday 10/19)!!

In order for the event to be successful, we need more TRUNKS!

THE DETAILS:

• You decorate your trunk in a theme of your choice. Go as fancy or as simple as you'd like!

• WE will supply the candy. You are welcome to bring your own, but the LDC staff will make sure you're stocked and restocked throughout the event.

• The event is Sunday, 10/19 from 1-2pm, so plan to arrive by 12:30 (so we can close off the parking lot for safety reasons).

It's a TON of fun and we love being able to provide this FREE event for our LDC families. The Sweet Abilities food truck will be there again serving up their yummy treat and there will be special performances from both our Sparkle Squad and our Performing Company!

LOOKING AHEAD:

RECITAL COSTUMES (10/1 & 11/15):

• October 1, today, we processed recital costume deposits with the card on file.

• $50, plus tax, each class the dancer is in.

  • NO costume deposit on 10/1 for: Boys HH, Pre-pointe (doesn't perform), Teen Tap, Teen Hip Hop, Adult class

  • Those classes will have a costume fee collected later in the season once we know what the costume will be. Stay tuned!!

• Balances will be processed on 11/15. Amount is based on the age of the class:

  • Ages 2-3 & 4-5: $35, plus tax

  • Ages 6-8: $40, plus tax

  • Ages 9-12 & Teen: $45, plus tax

• We will start sizing dancers in November and get the costumes ordered by Thanksgiving...crazy but true! Necessary to get them in time for recital.

LDC TRUNK OR TREAT (10/19):

• Our 3rd annual TRUNK OR TREAT will be on Sunday, October 19 from 1-2pm.

• This event is FREE for our dance families!

• Special performances by our Performing Company and Sparkle Squads.

• Thank you to our Competition Teams and families that have already signed up.

• But we need about 10 more trunks. Sign up on the link below!

  • We supply the candy, you supply the themed trunk!!!

• Can't wait to see you all there...always a fun event!!

HALLOWEEN SHOW WEEK (10/25-10/30):

• It's one of our FAVORITE, most fun weeks of the season!

• Performances will happen AT LDC during the last 30 minutes of every hour, during your REGULAR CLASS TIME.

  • Half hour classes, you will either need to come a little early to practice or stay late to perform that week.

• Wear your Halloween costume OR dress festive! Get creative, we love to see it!

• Each class will meet together in the BLACK STUDIO, along with family and friends that come to watch.

• Classes will perform their dance TWICE and finish with a group photo and of course, some candy!!

REMINDERS:

Friendly Lobby Reminders

In order to maintain a positive experience in the lobby for our dancers and families, please remind your kiddos:

• Refrain from running (too many collisions otherwise!)

• Clean up the toy room after using it :)

• Use the locker rooms for bags/shoes, etc.

  • They create a tripping hazard is on the lobby floors.

• Only use a quick squirt of hand soap in the bathroom.

  • We went through nearly a HALF bottle of commercial hand soap on Monday alone. And the counters and floors are often covered in excess water/soap.

Thank you in advance for your continued help. We love our spacious studio space and want to make sure everyone is comfortable, it's clean and safe!!

Meet the Darby's Dancers's Big Sisters

If you didn't know...we have a special needs program at LDC that we are really proud of. We've had a chapter of the National non-profit Darby's Dancers since 2017 and a big part of this program is the team of "big sisters" that volunteer their time every Saturday morning.

Teens...volunteering....early Saturday mornings? YES and they are an amazing crew. Click the link below to "meet" them!

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

• Tuition gets processed with the credit card on file on the 25th of the month, August-March.

• Makeup classes are allowed and encouraged!

  • We know life sometimes gets in the way of dance class, so feel free to make up any missed classes at your convenience within 30 days of the missed class.

  • Check out the schedule on our website for class options (CAN be a different style)

  • Please note: Make up classes are NOT allowed March-May, as each class is busy working on their recital dances.

What do we need to wear for class?

• While we don't have a super strict dress code, we do need our students to wear appropriate dance clothing and shoes to class.

• Below is a dress code guide to help get you started.

• The main things we need to see in class:

  • Proper dance shoes for the style of class they are taking.

  • Hair pulled back in a ponytail or bun so it's out of their face.

  • Tighter fitting clothing (with the exception of hip hop) so we can see their alignment and offer corrections.

Where can I get dance wear or dance shoes?

• We LOVE our friends over at Ballera Dance in Brookfield. They will help get you expertly fitted to ensure your dancer has the best dance experience.

• You can also shop online, just note sizing may be tougher.
