A NOTE FROM MISS KATE M:

I hope everyone has started to find their rhythm with back to school, dance and all the things! Classes are moving and grooving here and we are having so much fun. These first few weeks teachers are "getting to know" their classes...with what their skill/technique level is and who they are as people! It's a fun process that we look forward to and helps us make sure the rest of the season will be set up for success!

Thank you again for all of your support in getting your dancers here, dressed correctly and fed! You parents (and grandparents, aunts, friends, etc that help) are amazing!

CONGRATS PERFORMING CO!!

Performing Co has been rocking it this season. A few weeks ago they performed at the Dockhounds game and this past weekend they were able to use their dancing skills to spread love and joy in our community. Sunday they performed at a benefit for one of our dancer's brothers. We are so proud of them and were honored to be asked to be a part of that very special benefit.

And then...they worked together as a team and created their 2025 scarecrow to go on display on Scarecrow Row at Retzer Nature Center. This year's scarecrow is Miss Chealse in honor of her 10th anniversary teaching at LDC.

Dance teacher by night, scientist by day! Miss Chealse is also a wife and mother to 2 and overall amazing woman. Last week in fact one of her students said to me "did you know Miss Chealse is a SCIENTIST?!" She was so in awe, as are we. So be sure to check "her" out later this fall at Retzer. Way to go PC!!!

LOOKING AHEAD:

CULVER'S NIGHT FOR DARBY'S DANCERS (9/17):

• Wednesday September 17 4-7pm

• We are SO grateful for our friends at the Culver's on GRANDVIEW. They have been supporters of our special needs non-profit, Darby's Dancers, for years!

• Be sure to grab some dinner and of course, some custard! Thank you Culver's and thank YOU for going! Mark your calendars so you don't forget!

WALK TO END ALZHEIMER'S (9/27):

• Performing Company AND Sparkle Squad will be at the Walk to End Alzheimer's on Saturday Sept 27. PC will perform before the walk kicks off and both teams will be spreading joy, energy and support to all of the walkers.

  • We are always so honored to a be a part of this community event!

RECITAL COSTUME DEPOSITS (10/1):

• October 1 we will process recital costume deposits with the card on file.

• $50, plus tax, each class the dancer is in.

  • NO costume deposit for: Boys HH, Pre-pointe (doesn't perform), Teen Tap, Teen Hip Hop, Adult class

• Balances will be processed on 11/15. Amount is based on the age of the class:

  • Ages 2-3 & 4-5: $35, plus tax

  • Ages 6-8: $40, plus tax

  • Ages 9-12 & Teen: $45, plus tax

• We will start sizing dancers in November and get the costumes ordered by Thanksgiving...crazy but true! Necessary to get them in time for recital.

LDC TRUNK OR TREAT (10/19):

• Our 3rd annual TRUNK OR TREAT will be on Sunday, October 19 from 1-2pm.

• This event is FREE for our dance families!

• Special performances by our Performing Company and Sparkle Squads.

• Our Competition Teams will be decorating a few trunks, but we will need about 15 more. Sign up on the link below!

And while we were at Energize Conference a few weekends ago, Miss Alyssa, Miss Chealse and Miss Michelle all earned their Passport to Dance Certificate of Excellence. This training was designed for educators of preschool aged dancers.

Did you know we have lockers!

We do! These are GREAT for dancers that are here multiple days...so if you are interested in RENTING a locker for the season, stop by the front desk (or send us an email) and we will get you all set. Limited amount, so get yours now if interested!

The LOCKER ROOM lockers are all claimed!!!

There are still a few in the TEEN LOUNGE available.

• $25/locker for the 25/26 season

• You choose your locker # and location (must be 13 to use Teen Lounge)

• Let Miss Stacy know your locker # and your lock combo

• And you're good to go to leave all of your stuff locked up all season!

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

• Tuition gets processed with the credit card on file on the 25th of the month, August-March.

• Makeup classes are allowed and encouraged!

  • We know life sometimes gets in the way of dance class, so feel free to make up any missed classes at your convenience within 30 days of the missed class.

  • Check out the schedule on our website for class options (CAN be a different style)

  • Please note: Make up classes are NOT allowed March-May, as each class is busy working on their recital dances.

What do we need to wear for class?

• While we don't have a super strict dress code, we do need our students to wear appropriate dance clothing and shoes to class.

• Below is a dress code guide to help get you started.

• The main things we need to see in class:

  • Proper dance shoes for the style of class they are taking.

  • Hair pulled back in a ponytail or bun so it's out of their face.

  • Tighter fitting clothing (with the exception of hip hop) so we can see their alignment and offer corrections.

Where can I get dance wear or dance shoes?

• We LOVE our friends over at Ballera Dance in Brookfield. They will help get you expertly fitted to ensure your dancer has the best dance experience.

• You can also shop online, just note sizing may be tougher.
