How will YOU be part of this work?
What does it look like for each of us to contribute to the work of centering adoptee voices, challenge harmful narratives, and create meaningful change?
Last month, our We the Experts panel, The Constellation: Doing the Work, left me encouraged by how far we’ve come, and with increased awareness of how much work is still ahead of us. Doing the work can look different depending on our place in the constellation, and it asks all of us to keep learning, listening, questioning, and showing up.
There are so many exciting things to share with you about the ways Adoption Mosaic is continuing that work!
Registration is now open for our CEU Launch Celebration on November 12th! This program creates another way for professionals to learn directly from adoptee expertise and bring those perspectives into their ongoing work. We will also look back at everything Adoption Mosaic has accomplished over the past year and share a glimpse of new programs we’re developing for 2027. I’m in awe with how much we have accomplished in 2026. I can’t wait to celebrate with you and share what’s next!
Some especially exciting news is Adoption Mosaic has been offered an incredible opportunity, a $25,000 matching grant from the Ken and Donna Martin Family Trust!! All donations received between now and December 31st will have twice the impact! Every dollar you give is doubled, helping us reach the full $25,000 and creating even more opportunities for adoptee-centered programs, resources, and community spaces. If you have been considering making a gift to Adoption Mosaic, there’s never been a better time as your support goes twice as far.
Some of the most important and powerful work we do is continuing to listen and learn from adoptees whose voices and experiences have too often been left out of the larger adoption conversation. Our next We the Experts speaker series, Native American Adoptees, takes place October 10th. What an honor to share space with Native adoptees who are sharing their lived experiences, perspectives, and wisdom. I hope you can join us.
October brings a lot of travel for me! I will be attending (my first in 18 years) the CUB (Concerned United Birth Parents) Retreat this weekend, to spend time in community, learning alongside birth/first parents and others in the adoption constellation.
I will also be heading to Wisconsin for THE Adoption Conference (October 23-25)! In addition to Adoption Mosaic sponsoring this event, Jenna Lowe (Adoption Mosaic’s social media manager) and I will be co-presenting the “Adoptee Only Leadership Summit”.
Last but far from least, October 30th is Adoptee Remembrance Day. This was started by my dear friend, Pamela Karanova, and is a day to remember adoptees who have died, including those lost to suicide, violence, and other circumstances connected to their adoption experiences, and to hold space for adoptees who are still here and struggling. This day carries a lot of weight for our community and I’m grateful for the opportunity to pause, remember, and honor the lives and experiences of all adoptees.
There is still so much work to do. To everyone who continues to learn, listen, ask the difficult questions, and find their own ways to contribute, thank you for walking alongside us and for being part of this work.
