September 2026 -

September is my birthday month, and I am so grateful for all of the birthday wishes and messages I’ve received!! Thank you to everyone who took a moment to celebrate with me and for sending some love my way.

September also brings a shift for Adoption Mosaic. As we move into fall, we begin a new season of courses, restart our We the Experts Adoptee Speaker Series, and launch a new professional development program, creating even more opportunities for learning, connection, and conversation.

Our Transracial Parenting course begins next week on September 15th, and is one example of that work. Created by transracial adoptees for adoptive parents, the course provides space to explore race, identity, and the realities of being the parent to a person (of any age) of a different race. It isn't about getting everything right; it’s about being willing to learn, examine our assumptions, and continue growing with an open mind and heart. Good parenting requires us to roll our sleeves up, and parenting across race requires a special type of intentionality and humility.

In October, our Seasoned Parents course begins, offering adoptive parents of adult adoptees a space to continue that learning and engage with the complexities of adoption as their children move through adulthood. As we grow, our questions and consciousness grow more complex. It’s important for parents to keep growing as well.

I’m also incredibly excited to have launched our new
Continuing Education Unit (CEU) Program! This has been a project in the works for YEARS, and has already begun to bring adoptee-centered education to more professionals working in and around adoption. We’ve started with a selection of seven of our We the Experts panels, and are excited about the possibilities this creates for making adoptee expertise part of ongoing professional learning. Save the date for November 12th! We’ll be celebrating this launch with a special virtual event and sharing more of what’s to come.

This connects beautifully with our upcoming We the Experts speaker series, The Constellation: Doing the Work. This Saturday, September 12th, members of the adoption constellation will share their perspectives on what doing the work means to them, what it can look like in practice, and how we can each contribute to shifting the adoption narrative and centering adoptee experiences.

There is no finish line when it comes to doing this work. There are always more questions to ask, more perspectives to listen to, and more opportunities to do better. I’m grateful to be surrounded by people who are willing to keep showing up for that process.

As I begin another year of my life, I’m carrying a lot of gratitude with me… for this community, for the people who continue to challenge and inspire me, and for the opportunity to keep learning right alongside you.

We the Experts Speaker Series is back! Join us this Saturday, September 12th from 10am-12pm Pacific Time for "The Constellation: Doing the Work", bringing together different members of the adoption constellation to explore what it means to engage deeply with adoption awareness, advocacy, and change.

Rarely do we see spaces where multiple members of the adoption constellation come together and model what it looks like to lean into adoption’s complexities beyond the dominant social narrative of the “happy adoption” story. Through an adoptee-centered lens, panelists will share how they navigate difficult truths, challenge assumptions, and work toward more ethical, informed, and compassionate practices.

“The Constellation: Doing the Work” invites us to move beyond isolated roles and toward collective responsibility, asking what becomes possible when we come together to question old narratives, expand understanding, and build something more truthful in their place.

"lifting the burden"

Every adoptee deserves parents who are willing to engage in hard conversations about race, especially when their experiences differ from their child's. This course is an opportunity for parents to learn, unlearn, and begin building awareness of their own racial identity. Attending this course is a step toward lifting the burden many transracial and interracial adoptees carry within their adoptive families.

Transracial Parenting, an 8-week course designed to offer adoptive parents a supportive, compassionate space to deepen their understanding of race and racism.

  • The history of race and adoption in the U.S.

  • How to talk about race and racism in age-appropriate ways

  • The identity struggles many transracial adoptees face

  • How race and racism show up in your family and community

Our team of experienced facilitators—all transracial adoptees themselves—will guide these conversations with care, honesty, and lived expertise.

Begins September 15, 2026; registration is open!

"unfortunately love is not enough"

Adoptive parents, your kids are now adults with their own thoughts and feelings about adoption; unfortunately most adoptive parents were not given the tools or resources to have one on one, adult to adult, tough conversations about adoption with the adoptee(s) in their life. Join a community of other seasoned parents who are learning to think deeply and critically about adoption and practice talking about the tough stuff. Click here to learn more.

Join us Thursday, October 29th from 4pm- 6pm PT for our final Mosaic Mixer of the year!

The Mosaic Mixer is a free online event to connect with the adoptee community and share passion projects, businesses, and creations with each other. We encourage adoptees who are creating programs, projects, businesses, or other resources for the adoptee community to submit what they’re working on and share it during the Mosaic Mixer.

Each year, we host our final Mosaic Mixer on the last Thursday of October as a way to bring adoptees together before entering November’s Adoptee Awareness Month. We want our community to head into the month feeling connected, supported, and aware of the resources and people available to them.

This is an adoptee-only event.

This is the exact resource I was looking for but couldn't find when I was starting my adoption journey, and I would highly recommend that anyone starting the process of adoption take this class!”

We want to hear from YOU, our community. We invite you to leave a Google Review. Reviews help those in the adoption constellation find and connect with Adoption Mosaic.
