July 2026 -

Lately, I've been thinking about what becomes possible when people come together in community.

Just this week, we hosted another Adoptee Wellness Chat, and I continue to be moved by the honesty, courage, and care that filled that space. Thank you to the 120 of you who registered and the 60 of you  who showed up so authentically. Gatherings like these remind me that healing doesn't happen in isolation; it happens in community.

That spirit will continue into this next week. Our board and team are preparing to come together for a retreat to reflect, dream, and plan for the future of Adoption Mosaic. In the days following, we'll join our friends at The Ties Program, AIREroots, Rewriting Adoption, and Adoptees of South America + Extended Latin Americas to co-host the BIPOC Adoptee Happy Hour and Adoptee Dessert Social during the BIPOC Adoptee VOICES Conference. I'm continually inspired by what becomes possible when adoptee-led organizations collaborate to create more opportunities for connection, belonging, and community.

It's been a season full of collaboration beyond Adoption Mosaic, as well. Last month, I had the honor of facilitating the KAAN Leadership Summit, where adoptee leaders from organizations across our community gathered to explore leadership, partnership, and the future of adoptee-led work. What stayed with me most was the openness, vulnerability, and generosity everyone brought into the room. It was a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we lead together. I'm also excited and deeply honored to share that I've been invited to present this same workshop at THE Adoption Conference this October! I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue bringing adoptee-centered leadership into spaces where these conversations are so needed.

To every donor, volunteer, participant, and supporter: thank you for making this work possible.

Speaking of community, don’t forget to check out July’s Adoptee Community Page to learn about 11 listings of adoptee-led work!

I hope to see you soon!

In community,

Astrid Castro, Founder & CEO

"lifting the burden"

Every adoptee deserves parents who are willing to engage in hard conversations about race, especially when their experiences differ from their child's. This course is an opportunity for parents to learn, unlearn, and begin building awareness of their own racial identity. Attending this course is a step toward lifting the burden many transracial and interracial adoptees carry within their adoptive families.

Transracial Parenting, an 8-week course designed to offer adoptive parents a supportive, compassionate space to deepen their understanding of race and racism.

  • The history of race and adoption in the U.S.

  • How to talk about race and racism in age-appropriate ways

  • The identity struggles many transracial adoptees face

  • How race and racism show up in your family and community

Our team of experienced facilitators—all transracial adoptees themselves—will guide these conversations with care, honesty, and lived expertise.

Begins September 15, 2026; registration is open!

Graphic with faded Adoption Mosaic brand tiles as the background with a review by Mary Grace McGrath reading: “I met with Astrid to discuss the importance of adoptees leading the conversation on adoption. It was incredible to meet with someone whose passions align with my own. I am designing a study for school to give voice to the experiences of adoptees, and Astrid provided a variety of resources to help me achieve my goal. I also learned of adoptee initiatives run by Adoption Mosaic, so I am excited to continue exploring my identity as an adoptee in these ways. Thank you!! I highly recommend Adoption Mosaic!!”

We want to hear from YOU, our community. We invite you to leave a Google Review. Reviews help those in the adoption constellation find and connect with Adoption Mosaic.
