CELEBRATION TIME!

In May Adoption Mosaic is celebrating its one-year anniversary as an official nonprofit!

Our anniversary fundraiser is already underway and will run through May 15th. Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of this next chapter. Imagine 5, 10, 20 years from now being able to say, "Back in 2026 I was a foundational supporter of Adoption Mosaic!"

Your support helps us continue building and sustaining adoptee-centered spaces, programs, and resources for the long term.

What started as a vision to become a non-profit has grown into something real, sustained by community, trust, and a shared commitment to doing this work differently. Over the past year, we have expanded our programs, deepened our reach, and continued to center adoptee voices in ways that challenge the dominant narratives around adoption. And we are just getting started.

May also invites us to pause.

And with all of that, we want to send a gentle reminder to check in with ourselves and with each other. Adoption is not a single moment in time. It is a lifelong experience that carries complexity, grief, joy, identity, and questions that evolve over decades. Mental health is woven through all of it. This is a time to remember that you don’t have to hold it all on your own. Reaching out to community, even in small ways, can make a difference.

As a newer nonprofit, I receive regular updates from the Nonprofit Association of Oregon and something they recently shared stayed with me:

  • Nelson Mandela shared, “A nation should not be judged by how it treats its highest citizens, but its lowest ones.”

I find myself thinking about how this applies to adoption.

What does it mean to measure a society by how it treats those most impacted by family separation? By how we support adoptees not just as children, but across their entire lives? By how we listen, believe, and invest in the voices that have historically been sidelined?

This is the work. And it matters.

If Adoption Mosaic has impacted you, we invite you to be part of this moment by making a gift to our anniversary fundraiser. Your donation directly supports adoptee-centered programming and ensures that this work continues to grow in the years ahead.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for believing in this work. Also, don’t forget to check out the 13 adoptee-led programs in our May Adoptee Community Page!

Adoption Mosaic, AIREroots, and The Ties Program are excited to be organizing our 2nd annual Happy Hour and Dessert Social! And this year we’re opening up space for additional aligned partners to help amplify the events of the weekend.

We’re inviting BIPOC adoptee-led organizations to partner with us. The events are in Portland, Oregon on July 24th and 25th, in conjunction with the BIPOC Adoptee VOICES Conference. Your organization does not need to be local to Portland in order to be a partner. That said, we ask that you or a representative of your organization is present at the two events.

We are so happy to announce that Adoptees of South America + Extended Latin Americas has joined as a Partner this year!

If you think your organization would be a good fit, please fill out the interest form below.

Registration is OPEN! Adoptees United and Adoption Mosaic are joining forces for another Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon on Sunday, June 7, 2026! Wikipedia shapes public understanding, but when it comes to adoption, too many entries are outdated, inaccurate, or steeped in one-sided narratives.

Let’s change that!

Everyone in the adoption constellation is welcome. Join us as we edit, update, and bring more truth to Wikipedia’s adoption-related pages, centering adoptee voices and lived experience every step of the way.

We hope to see you there!

Graphic with faded Adoption Mosaic brand tiles as the background with a review by Mary Grace McGrath reading: “I met with Astrid to discuss the importance of adoptees leading the conversation on adoption. It was incredible to meet with someone whose passions align with my own. I am designing a study for school to give voice to the experiences of adoptees, and Astrid provided a variety of resources to help me achieve my goal. I also learned of adoptee initiatives run by Adoption Mosaic, so I am excited to continue exploring my identity as an adoptee in these ways. Thank you!! I highly recommend Adoption Mosaic!!”

We want to hear from YOU, our community. We invite you to leave a Google Review. Reviews help those in the adoption constellation find and connect with Adoption Mosaic.
