Hello June!
Summer is here, and with it comes a season full of connection, creativity, and celebration! As we wrap up our spring season of courses, support groups, and our powerful We the Experts Speaker Series (returning this fall!), I want to send a heartfelt thank you to the 25 panelists who shared their insights and experiences since January! Your insights and openness made space for meaningful dialogue, and we are so grateful for all of your voices.
HAPPY PRIDE! In celebration of Pride Month, we invite you to check out our growing library of We the Experts panel discussions featuring voices from our queer adoptee community—sharing stories, truths, and brilliance Check it out here.
And as Juneteenth approaches, we honor and celebrate Black freedom, resistance, and joy. At Adoption Mosaic, we continue to reflect on how liberation and justice are essential to our work—especially in adoptive spaces that too often overlook Black and Brown adoptee experiences.
While WtE is on break for the summer, we’re not slowing down one bit! This Saturday, don’t miss Adoptees Got Talent, featuring six phenomenal adoptee performers: Nina Yates, Sally-Moon, Megan Pietra, Nastashia Minto, Joplin Finfrock, and Jen Hughes. From poetry and spoken word to music and ukulele magic, these artists are ready to light up the stage!
We’re also out in the world—presenting at PACT Family Camp, speaking for C.A.S.E, and hosting another Adoptee Dessert Social during the BIPOC Voices Conference in July. And a reminder to check out our merch! Tees, hats, water bottles, and more— order today and receive your item(s) in time to show your support at summer camps and conferences.
Last month, I had the joy of traveling to Colorado, a place that holds a very special place in my heart. From the moving adoptee social and the screening of My Name Is Not Amy, to deeply personal 1:1 time with friends and family, the trip left me grounded and full of gratitude.
Speaking of gratitude—we’re thrilled to share that we’ve been awarded two amazing grants! The Livelihood NW EEIP Small Business Milestone Grant will help us grow and strengthen We the Experts: Adoptee Speaker Series, and the Metro Parks and Nature Community-led Programs Grant will support our fall Adoptee Social. With this funding, we’ll be able to host a free event centered on “Strengthening Adoptee Community through Identity, Land, and Pizza.” A big thank you to everyone at Livelihood NW and Metro Parks for believing in our work and supporting adoptee-centered community spaces.
A final reminder as we welcome summer, whether you're navigating transitions, reconnecting with family, planning travels, or simply taking a deep breath—remember this season can stir up a lot. Joy and grief, calm and chaos, celebration and reflection. A reminder to hold space for all of it and each other.
