Community is the foundation of who we are at Adoption Mosaic. With community in mind, I am excited to share some wonderful updates and events with you as we step into summer.
At Adoption Mosaic, we leapt into summer with our quarterly Adoptee Social in Portland, OR - a backyard pizza party. It was a fantastic gathering filled with laughter, delicious pizza, and meaningful connections (see pictures below!). If you missed us this time make sure to mark your calendar for September 7th and register today! Also, subscribe to our Adoptee Social email list to stay up-to-date on our get togethers.
June is Pride Month and I want to highlight the impactful LGBTQIA+ adoptee panel discussions we've hosted in recent years. Panels such as “Transgender and Nonbinary Adoptees” (May 2022), “LGBTQIA+ Adoptees + Race” (August 2021), and “LGBTQIA+ Adoptees + Adoptee Identity” (August 2020)”. These panelists have provided invaluable insights and fostered understanding within our broader community while playing a crucial role in amplifying the voices of LGBTQIA+ adoptees and shedding light on their unique experiences.
Last month, we hosted two other insightful We the Experts Panels. “Adoptees + Alternative Healing Modalities/Plant Medicine” featuring Koko, Pamela, John, and Shawn, who shared their journeys and the healing power they experience through plant medicine. The second panel, “Adult Children of Adoptees + Adoptive Family Relationships,” featured Andre, Jessani, Marrit, Bianca, and Maya, providing a rich dialogue on their perspectives. A big thank you to all the panelists and our support team for making these last two panels before our summer break such a success!
Speaking of our summer break, our monthly We the Experts: Online Panel Series is on pause to make space for exciting events and important work during the summer months. Find me at the KAAN 2024: Representation and Visibility conference (Chicago, IL), VOICES- a BIPOC Adoptee multi-day conference (Portland, OR), summer camp with PACT, or at an in-person day-long trainings on Transracial Parenting in Chicago, IL and Eugene, OR.
We are also beginning to plan for 2025! As I mentioned before, community is the foundation of who we are, so we are always eager to hear from you. If you have suggestions for future panel topics or any other ideas, please email us at hello@adoptionmosaic.com.
Thank you for being a part of our community. Your support and engagement are what makes Adoption Mosaic a thriving and inclusive space for all. Let’s continue to nurture and uplift each other as we move through this summer season together.
