Less Than Super, Man...

In honor of this week's Supergirl movie coming out, along with what I assume will be 9813 other worse comic book movies because it is summer, I thought it may be a good time to take stock of our heroic aspirations and see how we are faring... short answer is pretty bad! My workout routine is just a shade under bionic, my hearing is a touch shy of sonar, and even my mental acuity is definitely very much of this world. I have been bitten by a spider before--nothing cool happened. I just got sick and had a rash. I face radiation every day when I microwave brunch--still can't fly. I am faster than a speeding mullet, but that's because of the meth, so they just keep going around in circles. I have no fantastical abilities other than I have a Costco card because I like Super Savings. Speaking of...

Here is some stuff I like and hope you like too...

AS ALWAYS, REPLY TO THIS EMAIL WITH YOUR THOUGHTS AND COMMENTS AND STUFF YOU WANT TO SEE! I FEEDBACK IS ALWAYS APPRECIATED!

SHOPPING IN BULK

If I am ever lucky enough to get fans, these are the folks I want! Give me a not-so-superman on a bender doing discount warehouse shopping on a Tuesday afternoon. I feel like I see this daily on Hollywood Boulevard, all along the Walk of Fame. If they ever give me a star, I hope it is made of orange stars from a Lucky Charms box. My sister Kat will love that because it is as close to Irish as I will ever be, and I will love it as it will be delicious. That is how I want to be remembered. An "In Memoriam" nod on a cereal box. Seems just about right!

I stopped going to Costco when I moved to LA four years ago, but for some reason, I can't let go of the membership. I still feel like there is gold in them there hills at Costco, like it's so exclusive that if I drop my membership, they will never let me back in. It's like Soho Club, but with giant cans of walnuts and enough vitamins to actually kill me. Same amount of B-list celebrities, though. Although I'm not sure what I think is funny about that. I'm not celebrity enough to be on a list of any grade. Maybe one day, but in the meantime...I'm good having fun with my friends and newsletter and occasional shows! Hope you all are good with it too...

I did get some good advice once from my friend (and Some Stuff Weekly subscriber) Vicky Frenkel. I ran into her once at the Trader Joe's in KC and she turned me on to the pot stickers. Those are legit good! That's how I keep my less-than-marvelous physique going 😄😄😄... Also legit good is her design studio if you ever need some awesome graphics done! She is the best! Always love getting to shout out friends doing really cool things, and she is one of the most supportive folks I know. Truly like family!

MY SPOTIFY PLAYLIST OF THE WEEK...

CO2ISFUNNY | Songs For People Less Super and More In A Stupor...

It's too easy to write a song about a hero. How about all the songs for the zeroes?!?!?! Here are 10 songs about people doing incredibly un-super things. BTW...I wish this was the original photo I was looking for of my brother Matt and I on Halloween, but I wore the plastic Batman costume two holidays in a row and thought I crushed it. Sadly, he still looks exactly like the Superman kid and may still wear a similar outfit. He lives in Florida after all where it's acceptable...😄😄😄

Also, he just became a follower of the newsletter because he could not figure out how to subscribe. He was asking my sister to forward it to him every week because "he's not a techie". Not being a techie means not being able to code in Javascript. Not being able to subscribe to a newsletter is a different kind of "not" altogether... Good to see him catching up with the Windows '95 crowd via his AOL connection.

THE SHOW I AM WATCHING

I LOVE this movie! It is completely underrated, and no one will ever be able to convince me otherwise...(except maybe @thejessicawinther as she can be incredibly bossy)! One of Ben Stiller's greatest performances, with a cast of stars all playing the worst heroes of all time. William H Macy as The Shoveler, Paul Reubens as Spleen, Hank Azaria as Blue Raja, and Janeane Garofalo as Carol are all completely hilarious, and that is just scratching the surface.

As you inevitably get superhero movie fatigue this summer, remember Mystery Men and give it a watch. Makes me die laughing every time I see it!

THE TRIP TO KC

The trip was a blast! Here are some highlights:

California, Arizona, New Mexico (Gallup specifically for my brother Mark!), Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas

My Brother-in-law Brad's birthday at J. Rieger & Co. put on by my amazing sister Bridget (with an assist by my nephew Luis!)

Soccer soccer soccer! Seeing the World Cup sights with my mom and Kat!

Doing comedy in Omaha thanks to my hilarious buddy Kristi McHugh.

Colorado and Vegas on the way home

If you ever get a chance to go to KC and you have never been, please go! It's the best!

SUSAN WARE CLIP OF THE WEEK

Susan was a multi-threat as an artist. She had the entire toolbelt full of skills. She could walk. She could hold things without dropping them...That's it. What she could not do was play an instrument, and as for singing??? Thank God these were silent pictures. She sounded like a cat in a burlap bag right before it's tossed in the Allegheny. Just an incredibly unpleasant noise. You can hear her screech by clicking HERE.

I hope you enjoy these as well! Feel free to subscribe if you want. I will also include them here, but the posts that come from her site are hilarious and go out on Mondays and Thursdays!
