EGGS!!! YUMMMMMMM...

One of my favorite times of year is finally here--Egg Salad Sandwich season! The end of Fish fridays also ushers in the era of creative cooking for me-- a little tomato, a little lettuce, a wide variety of bread options...and the hero of it all--the egg. I'm getting hungry just writing about it.

Like the other kids out at recess, I am always ready for breakfast food. A chilled Monster-Zero, an avocado and an egg will tide me over through a nuclear winter. Bring me the good stuff, Easter Bunny! I'm ready to eat!

Here is some stuff I like and hope you like too...

AS ALWAYS, REPLY TO THIS EMAIL WITH YOUR THOUGHTS AND COMMENTS AND STUFF YOU WANT TO SEE! I FEEDBACK IS ALWAYS APPRECIATED!

THE BOYS OF SUMMER ARE BACK!

Baseball is back and I am here for it! Get ready to weep as my KC Royals sweep the AL in rare fashion, winning 150 of 162 games (the 12 losses are just to keep the ratings interesting). The fact that I am predicting a clean playoff sweep and 4-game World Series Championship means you can start engraving the trophy now.

There is nothing better than a summer night spent at the ballpark with friends, $5 footlong hot dogs, and Friday night fireworks. This is where baseball shines over football. You can talk and laugh and have a relaxed, socially engaging evening. Also, you only have to worry about catching a contagious disease from 35,000 people instead of the typical Chiefs 79,000. Every little bit helps!

MY SPOTIFY PLAYLIST OF THE WEEK...

CO2ISFUNNY | Best Songs With Eggs in the Lyrics for Whatever Reason...

I had no idea about the entire subset of egg music. As always, I blame the Beatles--specifically Ringo. Always seems about right to me. Most people don't know the original title of Yesterday, the Paul McCartney classic, was Scrambled Eggs. I think I would like the song more if it had stayed that way.

Here now for your listening enjoyment are 10 songs about eggs for no reason at all...

  1. I Am the Walrus | The Beatles

  2. Egg Man | The Beastie Boys

  3. How D'Ya Like Your Eggs in the Morning | Dean Martin & Helen O'Connell

  4. Pork Roll Eggs and Cheese | Ween

  5. eggs in the morning | aron!

  6. Dirty Old Egg-sucking Dog | Johnny Cash

  7. Humpty Dumpty | Aimee Mann

  8. I'm Puttin' All My Eggs in One Basket | Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong

  9. Eggs and Sausage | Tom Waits

  10. Ham 'N' Eggs | A Tribe Called Quest

THE SHOW I AM WATCHING

This movie is both annoying and wonderful, and is a personal favorite! Harvey represents the best and worst of Jimmy Stewart. He is goofy and aw-shucksy and a little too earnest, But he is also damaged--a depressed alcoholic who has visions of a 6-foot-3 and 1/2 inch rabbit named Harvey after the death of his mother. The conflict between the two worlds is what makes Harvey such a fascinating, tragic, yet ultimately hopeful film.

On a side note, Harvey has one of my favorite movies of all time: "In this world you can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant. For years, I was smart. I recommend pleasant.

LET'S WRAP UP THE SEASON...

As I have predicted from the beginning 😄😄😄, the winner of this year's NCAA basketball tournament will be...the Arizona Wildcats. This is an almost 100% gaurantee that they will lose in heartbreaking fashion, but I am hoping they will not.

I know all the Michigan fans out there will not be happy with this selection. My brother Mark and my good buddy Ross (who may or may not still scam my YouTube TV subscription just to watch Big 10 football)...they are pulling hard for the Wolverines. I understand that. But I have said it before, and I will say it again... It is an unfair ask to be both the smart kids and the athletic kids. You have to stay in your lane. Michigan, you guys are smart. Be satisfied with that. Arizona, you are fast and strong. That is its own kind of gift. Let's just celebrate what we have without getting greedy for what we shouldn't.

COMEDIAN TO KNOW: Susan Ware

I know I have featured Susan before, but this is for a very specific reason. In addition to being a dear friend and my co-author on our Dead Jokes book (hopefully coming in September), she is also an amazing human being and an inspiration to me and many, many others.

All of that paled in comparison to this past weekend, however. Susan and I took a whirlwind trip to Modesto where she performed 30 minutes of hilarious comedy at the Gallo Theatre for the Ladies of Laughter event. She absolutely crushed it up there, the crowd loved her, and I was in absolute awe over her performance.

If you have not seen her before, please do yourself a favor and check her out HERE. Truly a one-of-a-kind comedian!
