Happy June + sweet summertime love to all of you. I hope you are settling into a new routine and have some fun plans for the next few months. I know my family and I look forward to backyard bbq's with friends, bumping around downtown, time at the lake, and enjoying tunes at The Levitt.

Ladies First at Selah Space on June 6th (THIS SATURDAY!!):

I’m so excited to be part of this inaugural event! Ladies First is a community wellness fundraiser focused on supporting women through the Circles of Care fund that helps make healing and multidisciplinary care more accessible for women in our community.

The event will include wellness offerings, classes, shopping, tattoos, connection, and so many beautiful local providers coming together to pour back into women.

We also want moms to feel deeply welcome at this event, so childcare/play support will be available during the day to help make attending feel more accessible and supportive.

I would absolutely love to see you there. Come for a session or stay all day! Scroll down to the bottom for more details.

😘 I Have My Own Instagram Account!

Uprise has grown and expanded beyond just me. While I love sharing all of the Uprise things, I've also been craving a creative space to myself! So I decided it's time I re-branch out and start talking about the unspoken parts in the pelvic health space. I've seen a lot in the last decade of this work, so watch out, I'll be going "there" and share deeper truths about our bodies. Because we are more than skin, bones, and muscles. We are whole humans that need more than just a change in our movement patterns. If this kind of conversation speaks to you, I hope you’ll follow along here and tuck a little more knowledge into your back pocket!

  • Heather is now offering both 7am and evening massage appointments! Maybe a quiet start to your day or to unwind at the end of it, is just what you need.

  • I am offering extended PT sessions, with 90-minute and 2-hour appointments available, something many of our clients traveling from outside Sioux Falls really value.

Ashley, who supports our team behind the scenes (hi, that’s me!), often helps bring these newsletter ideas to life and this time, she may have been a little sneaky… reaching out to the team and asking them to share what it's like working alongside Marysa.

You Don’t Have to Push Through This Summer

A little seasonal check-in.

Let's take a second for a body scan right now, how are you? What are you feeling? Your routine and schedule might be changing, kids are home, and now the yard needs to be mowed and weeds need to be pulled.

Welcome longer days + warm sunshine. So nice to see you.

There is just more movement this time of year + that's such a good thing.

Those lake days feel so good in the soul, don't they? [Maybe this is the year you get a rogue hair and hop on the tube or waterskiis!] The activity level is normally higher in the summer, friend, and you're making all of those sweet memories with your people.

Your body might be working a bit more than a few months ago.

You're on your feet more and perhaps some of those activities fit in the higher impact department and if your body isn't quite supported for that yet, that's when you may feel more pressure or leaking in your pelvic floor.

Secret's out, don't ignore those symptoms.

Pelvic floor care isn't just about muscles.

It's how your body responds to the life you're living. And remember that it's also about the connection between your core, breath, and nervous system. It’s about understanding your body as a whole, starting from a holistic mindset of how it responds to stress, how it holds tension, + how it adapts to the seasons + chapters along the way.

Before you get too comfortable in your lawn chair, just get on our schedule, ok?

Even just coming in for that initial evaluation can give you so much clarity on what is actually going on behind your symptoms. You body doesn't have to wait until fall to be supported.

Likely it's not that anything new is happening, it's just that summer might give more opportunities to notice what's already there.

Don't forget, it's never too late.

Inaugural Fundraiser for Circles of Care

Dr. Marysa will be showing you how the dry needling modality integrates into pelvic floor therapy and will be doing a live demonstration! Join her at 2pm this day, you won't want to miss this!

Tressa will also be sharing a bit of her own healing magic at this event!

Don't forget, there will be childcare/play support available during the event so moms can feel more supported in attending and receiving care, too.

Every ticket, donation, and shared experience helps support women in accessing care they may not otherwise be able to receive.

Nevada will lead these yoga sessions focused on returning to your body, breath and core after baby. Remember, this isn't Vinyasa style, it's a gentle class.

It's the perfect way to start your journey into motherhood. Not only is it good practice to move your body in nourishing ways, but you'll practice carving out time for yourself in the midst of new routines. Want to bring baby along? They are welcome to attend with you!

Join us for our free postpartum meetup! Dr. Marysa and Sarah Vaca, RN, IBCLC host the group where we have a scale present for before/after feed weights and weight checks. Sarah is available for breastfeeding tips and Marysa is available to talk physical recovery. We are occasionally joined by other local perinatal professionals!
