Inside a Treatment Session at Uprise Pelvic Health
What Will Your First Appointment Look Like?
We know we’ve talked about this before, but these are still some of the most common questions we get from new clients and curious friends. So let’s walk through what a pelvic PT session actually looks like...and what might surprise you along the way.
💜 It starts with a conversation.
We begin by talking through your story: your symptoms, medical history, birth experiences (if applicable), daily routines, and goals. We want to know what matters to you, not just what hurts. Remember, everyone has a different journey of health.
💜 We look at how your body moves.
Your PT may observe posture, breathing patterns, hip and core strength, or how you lift your kiddo or sit at your desk. This helps us see how your pelvic floor is working with the rest of your body.
💜 We assess your pelvic floor, only with consent.
A gentle internal and/or external exam helps us understand how your pelvic floor muscles are functioning. You’re always in control, and nothing happens without your full permission.
💜 We create a care plan together.
We’ll walk through what we found and make a personalized plan that fits your needs, your lifestyle, and your goals...whether that's less pain, more confidence, intimacy that feels good again, or fewer bathroom trips.
What You Might Not Expect in a Session
🌞 Manual therapy techniques
We might use hands-on release for your abdomen, hips, tailbone, or even jaw, because tension anywhere can affect how your pelvic floor functions. [You say you're having shoulder pain, it really could be connected to your pelvic floor!]
🌞 Breath work and nervous system regulation
Sometimes, the most important work we do is helping your body shift out of "fight or flight" so real healing can begin. Many of us are stuck breathing up in our neck and shoulders, so we gently guide you back to those deep, grounding diaphragmatic breaths your body’s been craving.
🌞 Whole-body education
We talk about how your feet, posture, diaphragm, and daily habits all impact pelvic health. You might learn more in one session than you ever have at a doctor’s office.
🌞 Home tools and strategies
We’ll often introduce self-massage tools, movement cues, or habits you can work on between visits like how to breathe while lifting, how to sit with support, or how to prep for better sleep.
